Sword.
you posted it brother. Polehammer supremacy. Such a graceful and insanely powerful weapon.

If something like it ever does come up, it tends to be treated like a repeating rifle like Vermintide.

>>745985509Anon... I was talking about the lucerne, the weapon in the OP, specifically
shotels
>>745979443Exanima. It's the best weapon in the game, maybe a shared first place with the halberd. You can rotate it if you want to use the hammer/spike whenever you want
>>745979443this one is great in Mordhau.
>>745985683It has several poke attacks in elden ring(backstep, running attacks, several ashes of war), but it's the least damaging weapon in the category. Other halberds have a poke as their basic light attack but this one doesn't which is a bummer...
>>745981013Deadlock has one but it's treated like a shotgun lol
I think there is only one game that uses those grenade launchers.
>>745980486They can't turtle poke, so they are not the best weapons.
>>745979443FS is one of the few game devs to include it and for some reason they always did the lucerne dirty. It should be and function as a strike/pierce weapon and have better move sets than it does. It should also be a bit stronger than it usually is. IRL, it was known as an extremely formidable weapon.
>>745987982>It's the best weapon in the gameThat's the two handed sword though.
>>745990006best souls 2 wins again
>>745989952Warhammer Total War has them, and they're one of the most busted units in the game
>>745990124Fromsoft chose to balance halberds by (1) Giving them crazy high damage whenever you land a hit (2) Making them awkward to use with bad movesets so landing hits is hard.
>>745991962>Unless you hit the sweet spot (i.e. specifically the head of the weapon) you do only 25% damageD tier, sorry anon
>>745992154skill issueuse syan's halberd as it's pretty wide and has spear light attacks
>>745979443this thing is borderline OP in mordhau. got so many kills playing as tank and swinging like a madman
>>745992267No amount of skill changes how awkward it is to use in practice nor how easy it is for other players to evade that sweet spot with almost no effort. DS2 is one of the GOATs of "cool idea, here take this poison pill that ruins it" in terms of game mechanics.
>>745979621It gets beat by a spearman
>>745991660Nah, fighting golems with the two handed sword is a nightmare. You need crushing damage into them, and the extra reach.
>>745993517No, poking them is good, too, but for golems I do prefer the long pike from the foundry. To be honest golems are really an exception that you're not really supposed to fight, for everything else the sword is very versatile with slashes and stabs to the face.
Actual historical greatswords were awesome. When they appear in fiction they're 7 inches wide and treated like theyre 90lbs>>745984573>>745984750Mesoamerica is extremely underrated in general, to a depressing extent. The average person thinks they were a bunch of retards in huts instead of super sophisticated urban civilizations writing books and building badass megastructures. Tenochtitlan had a zoo and aquarium for gods sake
>>745982710PENISES
>>745979443I thought this thing was amazing in Dark Souls 1, honestly. Used it for nearly an entire run alongside the Halberd, made for a very fun playthrough. Extremely cool looking weapon.
>>745991660>>745987982It's clearly the javelin.
>>745993865Greatswords were bodyguard weapons. They're what your goons used to tell the angry mob to fuck off because that mob was largely unarmed and unarmored. On the battlefield they were effectively just suicide bomber weapons. Yeah you might knock a few pikes aside with those figure 8s but you're not coming back.
>>745994135What kinda nonsense is this?
>>745994293The best assessment of their real historical use case from the eyewitness accounts and training manuals left behind by the people of the time. For example almost all of the discourse surrounding doppelsoldner and their zweihander tactics when deployed in pike squares comes from the account of literally just one battle (forget the name), which is where the famous "cutting/knocking aside pike heads" comes from. Likewise most of the manuals covering zwei fighting techniques specifically call out urban combat and guarding VIPs as intended use cases.
>>745994467translation: I watched a youtube video made by someone who read a forum post once.
>>745994467That's because the guys who used them were incredibly well trained and skilled cuz it was a difficult weapon to use. That hardly equates to a weapon used primarily for fucking up rioting mobs and literal suicide attacks. Stop talking out your ass
>>745994704They were very well trained at the jobs they were assigned, and to the best of our knowledge, the jobs I already described were those jobs. By the time zweis even existed, the kings of battlefield melee combat for when the pike formation broke were polearms of various sorts because of the proliferation of plate that stopped a zwei's blade. Zweis are lighter and better at waving around quickly but they won't cut you through metal armor, so they were used to knock aside offending obstacles (as in their only known role in pike+shot combat) or versus crowds who could still be cut by those huge arcing swings.
>>745994932>3 posts>has changed his argument 3 times>still has no clue what he's talking about and just keeps shooting at the doorok. Have fun I guess.
>>745995012I've changed nothing you retard, fuck off and stop being illiterate.
>>745995082
>>745994932What a retarded argument.>because of the proliferation of plate that stopped a zwei's bladeThat armor stops pikes and all polearms too though. You quite simply are not cutting through plate armor. The people fighting in pike blocks were not fully armored knights covered head to toe in plate.
>>745995195They were covered head to torso in plate which was good enough, the reason pike squares still worked was because if there's literally dozens of pokes impacting your body at any time at least one is going to get through a crack or wound you. Meanwhile the polearms had axes and hammers that clubbed you through it. If you wanted to use a zwei seriously in melee in this era you would basically always be haflswording it and beating people with the pommel, at which point, just grab a lucerne because you've made a ghetto lucerne. The fact that it was a sword with a big fucking blade creates use cases that speak for themselves within that context, hence why nobody except you and your contrarian need to feel special when you're not questions the historical references in these cases.
>>745995402
>>745995402>They were covered head to torso in plate which was good enoughYou mean the head and torso were covered. No, it's nowhere near enough to stop a Zweihander from ending you. Losing an arm is kind of a big deal and very bad for you.>Meanwhile the polearms had axes and hammers that clubbed you through it.That does absolutely nothing to someone in plate armor. >hence why nobody except you and your contrarian need to feel special when you're not questions the historical references in these cases. You're getting so mad you can barely even speak English properly anymore. Go ahead, post your "historical references." You can't just vaguely go "uhm, MUH HISTORY!" without actually citing anything and expect anyone to care.Zweihanders were widely used as battlefield weapons all across Europe.
>>745989832I mean I guess it kind of is like a shotgun, just way bigger pellets and far less spread over distance.
I think it shows up from time to time, but never in a game that I end up playing. I just think it's neat. Turning the central pin into a shotgun barrel was a stroke of 12 year old logic genius.
>>745995728Retard, in this era, even common infantrymen were issued brigandines, shirts of chain, and greaves, not even counting wealthier men-at-arms or actual knights. Who do you think you're fighting, here? The archers? That just returns to "unarmed and unarmored mobs." This was the era of armormaxxing and it wouldn't stop until arquebuses and muskets made it impossible to move in armor heavy enough to stop bullets. The era where zweis appeared on the battlefield at all lasted only like 150 years in the first place. >Hammers do nothing to platePut on a helmet and take a baseball bat to the face right now. You won't because you don't want to go to the hospital for severe brain trauma. What nonsense. I'm convinced you're a bot. No real human would be this fucking ignorant about something he claims to be so passionate about.

They had some armor, but were almost never fully armored. Even professional mercenaries of the time generally weren't, unless they were cavalry, and even then it was iffy. You are going to have a very bad time facing a Zweihander in those circumstances.>no real human would be this fucking ignorant about something he claims to be so passionate about. When have I claimed to be passionate about it? I'm passionate about Tarim basin Saka/Tocharian citystate history and warfare.
>>745996975That horse is moving at a slow trot specifically so he doesn't kill that guy with that move. Shut up, you stupid bitch. Absolute peak redditor argument to say blunt trauma isn't real. Instead of wasting time with some random 8000 year old chinkshit history from before bronze metalworking even existed, learn real history about the thing you're pretending to be an expert about. /v/ is so fucking stupid and brown these days, I swear.
>>745990124In Demon's Souls that weapon was so busted that halberds in the series still suffer for its sins.
Warpicks are criminally underrepresented. They look sick, and also I get the song warpigs by black sabbath stuck in my head every time I see them, which is cool.
