Double dash is the best. MK64 has horrible steering where you slide in the direction opposite your turn, if you get too close to an edge you're fucked.

MK64 would filter kids these days. Too much skill and not enough randomness.
64's CPUs are total shit, they don't react to items or obstacles the way they should when off-screen, and if you are on the hardest difficulty and 1st place manages to pull beyond render distance, you are fucked because they go faster
it does have the best sfx, the menu ui sounds never get old. It was peak sovl with a crt tv, n64, and some friends getting ready to play balloon battle back then. Double Dash is still overall the most sovl out of them all.Wii is still the peak for competitive.Everything else is slop.
