they got as hot as the surface of the sun and theres nothing to do about it. batteries last half an hour. and things will inevitably start to break pretty quickly, expensive to fix.

Unless you really both love modern gayming and spend 80% of your days not in a specific residence they make no sense. Just do something else when not at home or play older games that runs on a normal non-meme laptop instead of buying something objectively worse in every single way than a similarly priced desktop except for the ability to move around for a few hours at a time.

I got an ASUS ROG Strix G17 3 years ago mostly because it was on sale for a really good price and I needed a new laptop for school anyway. It still works great and every game I’ve played on it ran fairly well. The most graphically intensive one was probably KCD2. The biggest downside is ASUS’ shitty bloated ROG software, which was promptly ripped out and replaced by G Helper, and of course the thigh-scorching heat which is a given for any gaming laptop anyway.
