I am in awe at just how bad this game.>CombatProbably the biggest downgrade. WHile the original 2 games had combat that were famously based on Virtua Fighter, Shenmue III literally tells you to "just mash buttons". The game even builds in a massive input buffer just so it can see which buttons you mash before it decides what move to spit out. It's slow, clunky, unresponsive, and lacks any of the depth that the original games have. You can't even throw anymore.>StoryNothing happens. People waited 20 years for this game to see the next chapter in the story, and literally nothing happens. The first chapter has you tracking down some "thugs" who kidnapped Shenhua's father. That leads you to Niaowu in the second chapter where you again track down the same thugs still looking for Shenhua's father. The final boss is literally just "big thug" man. Yes, you technically "fight" Lan Di, but it's a scripted fight where you can't land a single hit and then it jumps to a cutscene where Lan Di escapes again. 20 years people waited for this lol>SettingWhy does a remote Chinese village have an arcade and gacha machines? They're only there because they are apparently series staples at this point, but they're completely out of place. Bailu Village is so weird and disappointing>DialogWhile the voice acting was comically flat in the first two games, it doesn't have the same charm 20 years later. And what's with the weird cuts to black in the middle of dialog? It's been a long time since I played a game that is as offensively bad as Shenmue III. I've never been a big fan of the series, which is why I only just got around to playing it, but I genuinely feel bad for the hardcore fans who were actively waiting for this game and were excited to play it. What a piece of absolute dogshit this is. Anyone else play it? Thoughts?
I have very fond memories of Shenmue I and II, but to this day I've still not played III. Maybe someday. Despite how "bad" people say it is, I still want to experience it.Also isn't there like an Enhanced version of Shenmue III coming out soon-ish? I hear they're overhauling (or at least changing major parts of it) the combat system in that one.

I watched videogamedonkey's video about shenmue 3 and laughed at the video alot so its not a bad game
