Horizon Franchise future
>Hunters Gathering may be cancelled if they can’t come up with a good pitch to save it and make it more appealing, one option is to put it on Switch 2 and Mobile as well
>Horizon Steel Frontiers not planned for PS5 but could come if Hunters Gathering is canned
>Horizon movie pitch along with a tv series set in the world of Horizon being tested at Sony, movie not making progress but the TV show has enthusiasm
>Horizon 3 has not even started pre production thanks to Hunters Gathering meaning it’s at the earliest going to be 2029
>Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered is being tested for a potential Switch 2 port
>Lego Horizon 2 is in preproduction using the story of the second game and set to release on PS5, PC, Switch, and Switch 2
>Hermen Hulst wants Aloy in a future Smash Bros.
>Sony in general considers the comments about it being a “forced franchise” just noise and they consider Aloy as important to their line up as Kratos

how much of this is your own fanfiction?

Imagine spending the entire generation working on this only to potentially lose your job when audiences don’t like it

I bet it's because Lance Reddick died. He was kind of an essential character to the plot of main games.

What the hell is this

I'm almost certain the next mainline game will be a colossal flop

I enjoyed the first game, I dont care what anyone says it was fun
>>
>>745988330
It's pretty much guaranteed now. They pulled a Bethesda and waited way too long between entries and by the time it drops, even the fans won't care.
>>
>>745988423
Holy fucking soulless
>>
Imo i think the game is lacking an outlet for all of the fucking mats you can pick up
"Cryogenic fluid"
"Flamethrower fuel"
"Engine parts A"
Like i can craft and stuff, but i feel like you stop being a hunter gatherer half way through. Just blast whatever and ge the cool drops and leave. Like you generally dont care about arrows half way through and its funny

So i have a fucky proposal
Base building like pal world
Hold on hold on, please hear me out
The game is in tribal era, cool stuff in the background and the scifi of the distant past. But none of that really transitions to gameplay. What if we made bases and tried to uplift the wild lands into somewhat civilization. Capture and hack and steal a few bots that roam the land, and reuse them for farming protection and transfering supplies from base to base. Alegedly ALL of the animals have environmental purposes, like tilling the lands or acting as living radar dishes. The giant crabs are supply convoys. Ect. Why cant we start doing "more" than just beatting up the big bad and then spending the rest of the game in collect-athon mode.
Have custom mounts, upgrades, we could hold stronger ordinance on the back of a robot horse, using it like a metal slug mount and blasting everyone lmao.
This could be so coo!
>>
>>745988947
Well for me, it's because it'll be on PS6 and I won't be buying a PS6
>>
>>745989354
I think you're dreaming to be quite hwyf. I get where you're coming from but all those crafting systems are just the standard AAA game slop Sony pumps into all of their games.
>>
>>745990046
True, slop indeed
But, its such a unique world and story and we end up doing bare bones for effort.
Its heartbreaking to see.
I wish they could do more with the cool toys that they have
>tfw you will never decommission a thunderjaw and use its inside for shelter and electricity

Same, i got the dlc too
It was great to get on sale

Do they think Nintendo fans will be into these games?
>>
They could have just made a multiplayer Monster Hunter/Lost Planet style game set in the universe with a character creator and it probably would have done at least decently. The robot dinosaurs are kind of cool.
Everyone who worked on Hunters Gathering doesn’t deserve a second chance and should be fired. They were clearly just stacking trend on top of trend thinking it would be an easy slam dunk for some reason.

>>745995252
They weren't into the lego game so no.

It is EXTREMELY funny how the main team is wasting time with Hunters Gathering while at the same time a Korean third party team is making an actual appealing game but its NOT on PS5
what the fuck was the point of putting out TWO Horizon live services while making the main studio work on something that looks like a spinoff while a third party works on something that looks like a main title
>>
>>745997292
PlayStation ain’t ever trying to make a crossover fighter again so it makes sense to go for the only big one
Still Nintendo isn’t allowing any PlayStation IPs in it until the bend the knee

No one is going to be playing this.

Giving up on Horizon would be admitting that Sony's efforts to center the industry around women's insecurities and petty social games have failed and that there's an army of Sony executives who never should have been allowed anywhere near power. Aloy is the banner that they've marched under.

They won't retire the franchise until there's a purge of the Herman Hulst faction, probably due to a hostile takeover because they're out of money.

You're not going to get the outstanding graphics on the Switch, and as much I like the game, it doesn't hold up without its graphics.

Switch 2 out performs PS4 and Horizon has never gone beyond PS4 in terms of visuals

Why would you just lie? There is no way you can have played the games (Forbidden West and Zero Dawn Remastered) on PS5 and PC and be saying that sincerely. The level of detail, foliage, lighting, textures, tessellation, the graphics as a whole are absolutely current gen and some of the best in it. You might not gleam that from the youtube videos you've seen but I've played a punch of 8th and 9th gen games and the difference is exactly as you ought to expect.
>>
>>745987186
Toxic positivity.

Everyone in the industry says that Aloy is an icon. The access media says that Aloy is an icon. The analytics that just measure how much people are talking about Aloy and say nothing about what's being said say that she's super popular. Nobody dares to ask critical questions because they don't want targets on their backs. Those who've pressed the issue are probably gone. And this forced consensus within the industry does literally nothing to make the actual customer base for videogames like Aloy.
>>
>>745987186
If Horizon 3 hasn't even started preproduction then surely it's not coming out before 2031? Going from start preproduction to release in 3 years sounds impossible.
>>
It’s funny that they don’t see the problem with taking away discs but after something like five failures in a row for tranny multiplayer games they realized “shit this is stupid as fuck we’re doing it again”
>>
>>746003804
We're reaching the endgame of lassiez faire capitalism where the only viable path forward for most game companies is live service games that make money and grow forever.
>>
>>746004280
>50% tax rate
>entire economy is bouncing these taxes across NGOs and contractors to the elites
>can't get truly rich unless you take the taxes or obey those who have
>they even have a phrase for it: "the whole of society approach"
>"""lassiez faire"""
This machine would implode within three months if there were just a 5% flat tax and spending were cut to match. Look at how much damage just one agency being closed and a few months of DOGE did. You're blind if you're going to insist that BlackRock controlled media companies aren't pushing leftism, and they do it because that's their invincibility code.
>>
>>745987186
I find it baffling that Herman Hulst called this and fucking Concord "their most important ips" when Gran Turismo is right there. Herman Hulst needs to be fired
>>
>>746006676
I have zero faith that Sony is truly planning on changing direction so long as Herman Hulst is still employed there.
>>
>>745995252
Bruh pretty much all of sony's desperation multiplat ports have struggled off their hardware because they're largely laughing stock games nobody wants. Of fucking course they won't be.
>>
>>745987797
Part of the appeal of the horizon games is the cutting edge visuals that capture the human-machine combat and the open world well. Making a game without those cutting edge visuals is like making a fighter game without sexualized bimbos. forbidden west did sell well on a similar rate like the first until putting it on ps plus bombed the sales. But horizon 3 being published 10 years after forbidden west is basically strangling the franchise in its crib, the fans of the first 2 would have moved on. Hermann doesnt understand his own baby.
>>745987967
I actually like the horizon games more compared to the other sony movieslop games (ubisoft formula done well with robot monster hunter is a lot of fun), but sylens and ted faro were literally the only great characters in these games. Aloy and sobeck are too boring.
>>745989354
This is far more inspired than anything these companies can think of nowadays.
>>
Its just disappointing how one dimensonal and thoughtless these type of games are, they try to hide that by going open world and sprinking a bunch of busywork to do, so that you can say "THE GAME HAS CRAFTING! AND RPG QUESTS! AND STEALTH" but the sheer fact is simple: This game had a bunch of cool arrow types, and precise enemy interactions with those arrow types, but instead of making that also interact with the enviroment in some interesting puzzley/traversal kind of way. You get the generic "hold up to climb" bullshit thats in every game. Its sin isnt that it didnt copy BotW fullsale, because neither does BOTW solve the "hold up to climb" problem. But it could have cemented a unique identity hard in just being the rare open world game where you actually have to engage with the world like an adventurer using their tools to solve problems like "how do I get to X". Instead TotK fixed the mistake of garbage that was BotW by making it more of a focus to have interacting with the environment through acquired tools not merely be a gimmick, but be what the game is constantly designed around, with the depths and all the gloom you have to navigate around, figuring out ways up into and around the sky islands, etc. The most boring part about Totk is what it takes from BotW: The base world, but even that it efficiently remedied, by stuffing it with way more cool enviromental; Caves, the entire rail system on the death mountain area, etc.

Its by no means a perfect game, after all its still open world. But its a game with tons of interesting stuff you can't find anywhere else that isnt a gimmick, purposeful, unique design, ruined only by the redundant feeling an open world necessarily instills.
