I was introduced to this site in 2009. My very first thread was a Pokegirl thread because /vp/ didn't exist yet. I got introduced to some pretty good games here. Dissidia, Dark Souls, Dragon's Dogma. Games I probably wouldn't have touched otherwise.

But beyond that I think the way I think has changed as I've grown. After my first year I started to think that criticizing and bitching about games was the sign of a true patrician gamer.

I remember getting that ban for a month because I posted a cropped loli reaction pic. Appealed and it was refused, thankfully I was heading for a two week vacation and had other stuff to do when I came back but its fucking amazing how retarded some mods are.

As shitty as this place is, it's home to me. Unfortunately, this place is on the decline and I find myself with fewer and fewer reasons to return. At every corner there are schizos, bots, spammers, low effort posters and their ilk. But I can't find a better alternative. I know better than to even bother with Reddit and their updooting circlejerks. I don't engage with public Discords for the same reason. Where do I go, anons? I've found myself spending less and less time here to the point I really do wonder if I will free myself of the shackle and defy the old mantra of "You're here forever".

It all comes down to Creator vs Consumer board culture. Most creator/creative boards usually have much better board culture where the users tend to stay on topic and focus less on low effort shitposting. The downside is that they by nature tend to be a lot slower since the users are spending their time actually doing things other than using 4chan.
By contrast Consumer boards are a lot more active, but more prone to having low effort post quality because all the anons are doing is watching or playing shit for a few hours (if that even) and then hopping right back to 4chinz to spam about niggers, then going straight to twitter until they goon themselves to sleep.
