Physical Media for Movies & Shows >genuinely higher bitrate and quality compared to streaming, doesn't need updates or patches Physical Media for Games >literally no difference compared to just downloading the file, needs updates and patches and if you don't have internet the release version is all you can play

Sony has never been right about anything. Reminder they were the number 1 video game company that they dethroned Atari, Nintendo, and bankrupted Sega. And then PS3 was their full arrogance and they've been spiraling into bankruptcy since then. Sony Corp over the last 30 years has even lost almost all of their hardware business too. Ericson, Vaio, Bravia, Walkman... Yikes. The reason Sony doesn't want discs is because they've been making a ton of money on licensing fees and digital subscriptions. Its basically why they stopped developing games during the middle part of the PS4. Its why the fucking Switch managed to outsell the PS5, and it's why Sony said retarded shit like "next gen doesn't happen until we say so" and the Switch 2 starts 10th Gen by itself.
>>745995367Not every game used to be abysmal dogshit on launch and the physical media had the games on them. Patches and updates don't matter if shit isn't broken and can actually make the game worse (I actually liked Elden Ring v1.0 better).DLCs had physical disks in some cases too. The only limitation for physical media is whether the devs want to go through the pain in the rear to have physical release channels/logistics
