Yawn. Tell me when they add Almalexia, or in 6 years from now when they realise that adding a fanfic noncanon desert climate for Narsis was a retarded idea and newer devs undo that cringeworthy slop

Oh, they added an Almsivi Intervention marker to Ald Iuval, and moved the one in Almas Thirr, what a strange change

New Dondril is nice, even if I don't think the overhaul was necessary
>>
>>745996596
It makes it so that trapped containers and doors have an enchantment effect around them. You use it with the MCP option that makes objects not say if they're trapped.
The effect is less noticeable than you think, I've gotten caught by a bunch of traps, so it really makes it better as far as gameplay mechanics go.

There's also the quest where a woman in distress sends you to grab her jewelry out of a pond, and then you're ambushed by her cohort. Vanilla quests are slepted on I think. I heard Old Ebonheart is similar to that kind of vibe?

I find roleplaying as a poor person in morrowind leads to more interesting gameplay than the natural progression of becoming rich as shit. My biggest issue is that I hate leaving corpses, so I either need to make little graves for all the human enemies or "donate" all the loot to the nearest temple when I return from adventuring.

This is less being poor involuntarily and more of an ascetic path, though. Maybe a mod to gut the amount of money you can make by selling stuff to merchants and have the progression of gold actually be a challenge without hamstringing yourself.

I wish mods had better, organic, new skills.

For that matter, I wish Spears were better. Like, one handed, and two handed spears. They are so weak too.

Spears have literally double the reach of ordinary weapons, the advantage is you just don't get hit in melee.

Okay? So use a permanent strength enchantment and item stats don't matter, you're going to blast everything straight to hell with a single gentle tap.
>>
>>745999197
Price rebalance mods can help with the stuff that's normally tens of thousands of gold. I've tried mods that remove normal skill leveling and make everything trainer based alongside trainer cost increases. You end up being "poor" more frequently, but the pacing of leveling comes out a little weird. You tend to burst level when you pull together enough money. It's also a little awkward if you are having trouble finding someone to train a particular skill.

I'd say most character power comes from magic items and spells, not stats themselves. Base game you out level everything very fast regardless, besides scaling vampires or daedra. Expansions overcompensate player power, making gameplay dickish & tedious. TR does a much better job in populating the world with variety encounters evenly.
Honestly, I feel like people overemphasize importance of combat in Morrowind's gameplay too much.

TR = Tamriel Reworked.
>>
>>745995483
One of the most impressive mods ever created.
>>
>>746011037
This is why it'll never be finished, whole projects about shitting on the previous group's work rather than making new areas.
The Telvanni Isles actually need a rework since it's over 20 years old and is exceptionally moddy, but nah, let's fuck with perfectly fine relatively recent regions and towns out of nowhere.
I bet the "wasteland" now has a dungeon, ruin or NPC every five meters knowing how much they like to oversaturate the new areas. Narsis was a fine example of this - the city was perfect, but the surrounding region was such a mess I explored it once and wrote it off as moddy garbage.
>>
>>746011341
Nta but that's my worst fear, that they rework things constantly instead of finishing things.
>>
>>745995483
So how is the content in the new areas?
>>
>>746011459
I'm concerned about important modders going full Arthmoor and sneaking a bunch of bullshit into the mod. They're already fucking with old established stuff from previous expansions.
>>
>>746011674
It's not gonna be fun if ten years later, they still haven't finished it, or worse, they decided to do exactly the sort of things you said. Which mean more years wasted.

Innocent observation: It make a certain amount of sense that the south is a dusty wasteland. It's supposed to be close to Black Marsh.

Oh geez, you're right Anon. That 2022 map does look a bit patchworky and awkward, doesn't it?

So what if they... redid it to make it better?

>>746012180
That area in Black Marsh also has some canyons and enters the Valley of Storms, where Stormhold is. Shitty thunderstorms are common there due to the humidity, and the canyons give way to the jungles and swamps east and south of it.

Just like Morrowind, Black Marsh isn't all swamp.

Stop reddit spacing, it makes your posts look like they're in bad faith.
And the patchwork look is present in the new updates, I honestly think in their desperation to make new areas appear unique they're going to make the world look goofy by the end.

I think the real problem is a generational one. Allow me to explain:
The older modders in the 2000s and 2010s were more subtle about their additions. It felt like part of the world, or something Bethesda back then would add as an expansion. The younger guys are obsessed with making the next patch as big and bombastic as the last, and fuck subtlety. Does this area fit within the lore? Fuck no, but I want it to look distinct so other gen z guys gush about it online and say modding is better than ever now!

Old TR is literally just vanilla assets and vanilla biomes. It looked like vanilla because it literally was vanilla assets. The approach has changed, and now, instead of wanting to finish everything quickly, modders treat each area as if it were its own DLC. Just as Bethesda’s DLCs introduced something new, modders also give each area its own style and unique theme.

TR cities are too big and bloated
which is fine but some people do push this idea that they feel like a part of the main game but that couldn't be more wrong. the design philosophy of the towns, and TR in general, is completely different from the vanilla game. it's not just technical limitations. it focuses too much on the spectacle

I never played Morrowind. What's the best way nowadays to experience vanilla + bugfixes? OpenMW?
>>

> Hey l am about to play the 5th best TES game ever made.

K. Keep me posted
>>
>>746017441
I'm mostly playing vanilla plus TR/PT, will add SHotN sometime soon, just use Morrowind Code Patch and some mod organizer and you're good to go
>>
>>746016626
Vvardenfell has only been open to settlement for like 20 years or something by the time the game starts. So it makes sense the cities on the mainland would be much larger and impressive looking.
>>
>>746017547
>and some mod organizer
I said vanilla, but I guess MCP is what I'm looking for then
>>
>>746017441
There are automatic installers that give you some basic bugfixing and performance mods. They configure everything for you, including load order.

Pick one of these on the list. "I heart Vanilla Director's Cut" has Tamriel Rebuilt included that everyone in the thread is playing right now, and very little other changes. If you don't want TR, then pick "I heart Vanilla".

https://modding-openmw.com/guides/auto/
>>
>>746017441
OpenMW is the most used. only people still on vanilla are older guys used to playing vanilla who don't want to switch. Only bugfix mods you need are Patch for Purists, Optimization Patch, Project Atlas, and Expansion Delay.
>>
>>746017668
No I specifically want vanilla, and especially no fan-made additional content
Is OpenMW + the vanilla mods better than just MCP?
>>
>>746017668
Don't play TR it sucks. The cities are too big, it's very upsetting.

>>
>>746017574
MCP doesn't work with OpenMW (it's not needed anyway since OpenMW fixes the code).

>>746017736
Then look at the "I heart Vanilla" list and install some of those mods manually. It's a good list for basic OpenMW bugfix mods. You can skip whatever you don't like.
https://modding-openmw.com/lists/i-heart-vanilla/

Patch for Purists is by far the most important one. Project Atlas, Distant Seefloor and Graphic Herbalism are also basic enough that GoG.com includes it in their Morrowind+TR download.
>>
>>746017857
Yeah looking at the list, I really only need the purist patch, the rest seems to be grafix improvements

Adding on to what this anon >>746017857
mentioned, if you're manually picking basic fix/patch mods I'd also recommend Morrowind Optimization Patch and Project Atlas.

Expansion Delay mentioned by another anon changes how the game tries to hook you into the expansions, but you can always experience that first and then decide whether to mod it mid-playthrough.
>>
>>746018473
>Morrowind Optimization Patch and Project Atlas
I thought OpenMW already makes the game stable
>>
>>746018657
It does. Both of those optimize meshes (3d models) and textures that are badly made in vanilla and waste resources for no reason.
Honestly you can skip them if you play pure vanilla since your PC can certainly handle it. They are recommended to use if you use hundreds of mods that up the graphics because at that point the game can slow down even on modern PCs.
>>
>>746018783
I see, I'll skip them then. Will probably go with Expansion Delay, I'm mostly fine with fixing things that were retarded/oversights even back then

Is there an OpenMW mod that tells me if my target is hostile? Like coloring the crosshair red?
The most annoying thing with Sneaking is that even in dungeons you may meet non-hostile quest NPCs that you are supposed to talk to, and it's kinda bad if you just go and backstab them and kill them. You never know if someone is safe to kill. Obviously if you're not sneaking you would notice that they don't attack and you would go and talk to them.

I had to resort to using the console, clicking on them and typing "getfight" which tells you their fight value, and if it's over 70 you know they are in attack on sight mode.

>>
>>746021108
I'm using it. It's okay, but not entirely happy with it.
For example if your weapon skill isn't super high your staggers are short as fuck. Even getting a perfect parry doesn't allow you to deliver a free charged attack, since the enemy will recover and parry you back.
Attacking a non-staggered enemy is just pure RNG. Sometimes you'll hit, sometimes you get parried and staggered.
>>
>>746021204
It improved Sundered Scar by making it what the game kept saying it was, but there were arbitrary changes elsewhere that weren't as smart.

Try this:
https://www.nexusmods.com/morrowind/mods/58441
I used this on my last playthrough where I've play a stealthy adventure.

>>746021108
I'm using it and I like it. It takes a lite while to get use to it, but it does a another layer to the combat that I enjoy.
The only think that kind of suck is that high level enemies with shield will block every arrow you shot at them, making marksmam worse mid-late game then it would normally be. also the shield blocking animation is pretty subtle on enemies, so before you learn it you will probably accidently hit them while they block and get fucked over by the stagger.

>>746021354
I've never had much problem with not having enough time to hit an enemy after a perfect parry. You might also not be aware that you can't stagger monsters with blocks.

>Attacking a non-staggered enemy is just pure RNG. Sometimes you'll hit, sometimes you get parried and staggered.
It isn't, it just that some of the enemy blocking animation are barely visible. You can also charge your attack and wait for the enemy to stop blocking before you strike them.

Are debuffing spells worth using?

I only ever use damage spells, paralyze and silence.
Do you ever cast stuff like Damage, Drain or Absorb attribute or skill, Drain Magicka or Fatigue, Weakness to Element/Magic? Is it even worth using Weakness to Fire instead of just casting the fire spell twice?

How about Blind, Calm, Frenzy, Command?
Calm and Command seem to cost super high magicka for a decent level cap. Is it viable to throw a Command into a group of enemies and let them fight it out before killing the survivors?
>>
>>746023275
iirc drain fatigue is pretty much essential for a h2h build. I also once did a pacifist build where I maxed out personality and casted calm on everyone, eventually it got to the point where I could just walk into bandit caves and steal all their shit and they wouldn't even attack me lol
>>
>>746023275
It depends on the character I roleplaying. Some monsters and characters are so strong, that I have to drain Str or Int from them so they don't move or don't cast spells. But they are very rare.
>>
>>746023067
that's fucking gay, just tested and it doesn't do that for fallout london

>>
>>746023067

Command can be used to move NPCs. So if there's one of those swits Transporters that always get close to the edge, ready to fall...

Calm can be used to calm characters that you want to be calm to talk to them, like Master Trainers.
https://en.uesp.net/wiki/Morrowind:Trainers
Qorwynn, the master Enchant Trainer at Indoranyon is hostile, so use that Calm Spell on him, and you can enjoy his service. Keep him in mind, it'll make getting to Enchant 100 a lot easier.

NPCs have all their stats wiped every 3 days already and NPCs don't hold any quest variables (99% of the time), so don't worry about quests being broken.

>>746023140
tb.h I don't like that quickloot mod in morrowind, I can't open normal window in case I want to look closely what I pick up or find something in my inventory to leave

Block only has a certain chance to work, only block physical attacks, and the higher it is the faster your shield break.
>>
>>746025562
>higher it is the faster your shield break.
The higher you strength is the faster your weapon breaks. Is strength bad?
>>
>>746025017
>>746025268
Guess I'll stand corrected.
It kind of break my heart, knowing this Argonian I put at the library at Vivec won't be there anymore.

You can open the normal window with R

Same.

The only thing I'll miss was the clever way it used the Icarian Flight scrolls as a potential winning move, to throw the arrogant wizard guy into the stratosphere.

What the fuck? Why did they change it?
>>
The changes themselves are tolerable, but it bodes ill that the type of devs who want to neuter anything that isn't "realistic" have gotten creative control over parts of morrowind. These people are the ilk of modding and you shouldn't be surprised if the mod ends up sterilized.
>>
>>746025539
What is going to come last in this mod, Almalexia, House Dres, or the Telvanni overhaul?

>>
>>746025765
Telvanni overhaul

The real question is Almalexia or House Dres first
>>
>>746025612
No, since you are attacking all the time, and your weapon doesn't risk being so battered, unlike shields.

>>746025702
It really is, ain't it?
>>
>>746024739
I've notice this has been a problem with the updates recently. Every new area has to be some never seen before biome even if it doesn't fit the setting, and it's getting silly. It's starting to resemble what they did with Minecraft.
>>
>>746025834
I was under the impression that Almalexia would be the last part, especially considering they're gonna have to remake the entire Tribunal DLC
>>
>>746025918
That was the original plan since they tried to make Almalexia multiple times before (the old team) and each time was a mess. However, after Anvil and Narsis as well as the decision to basically remake Tribunal, the team has gotten a lot more emboldened.

Also keep in mind there's fuck all for House Dres still.

This makes zero sense and at this point I think you're just bullshitting because you're afraid to admit you were incorrect

>>746026186
>why is othreleth woods taking a year to be finished
Because it's part of the final hlaalu expansion

The exteriors aren't really what's left to do for Wealth Beyond Measure, exterior work right now is focused on the Redoran lands.
>>
>>746026302
No. Long blades and even Short blades were always the best.
>>
>>746026014
Remake Tribunal? They're not going to rework the Tribunal MQ and the dungeons, right?
>>
>>746026014
it will break all tribunal mods, for me they could even make it oblivion closed city with invisible force field around
>>
>>746026485
The stuff specifically is the city itself and implementing it into the worldspace. Stuff like a new ending or anything like that isn't the plan for it.

I'm getting everything installed right now. You fuckers better not be dramatizing OE. The old quests felt incomplete and shitty half of the time.
>>746027653
TR suffers from a lack of actual abolitionist content, it's full of quests where you can work with slavers. Hlaalu in particular is almost lore-inaccurate with how much plantation slavery they have going on. Actually play the fucking mod instead of making blanket statements.
>>
>>746027869
no one actually plays more than 1% of the mod it has 900 fucking quests
>>
>>746027869
OE is mildly better but until they fix the retarded layout it will always be shit

>Qorinue-Najan
>Arquebald Vene
>Gnome
>S'Khar-ra
>Poko
Am I forgetting anyone?

Extremely late reply, but Vvardenfell looks like that because originally Morrowind was going to span the whole provenance, and not just Vvardenfell. Those biomes were going to be spread out across the whole region. When the game was cut back to just being Vvardenfell, the Bethesda devs had to fit all the biomes they made into Vvardenfell. That's why it looks so patchwork, because it literally is. They attempted to fit a whole region's worth of biomes in to a tiny island.

To be honest AI slop might be better than Bethesda writing in Skyrim.
