It seems to be a common sentiment that this is the easiest persona game because of theurgy but I am not seeing it. I have played every single persona game, including FES and the original P3 extensively and if theres one thing I can say its that the games are only difficult at the beginning when you have low SP, infact the difficulty comes almost entirely from managing SP the moment SP becomes plentiful is when the game becomes easy, usually around the time you unlock invigorate accessories or passives.Persona 3 Reload makes it exceedingly difficult for you to recover SP early on unless you rng abuse or spend twilight fragments which are also a valuable resource for other purposes.P3 and P3 FES give you unlimited sp, especially if you abuse full moon boss dates so you never get tired.P3P has infinite sp healing for the cost of money.P4 lets you farm sp items infinitely by re-entering and exiting dungeons and opening chests, outside of that you got the fox which is infinite sp for money.P5 is slightly harder than P5R due to limited ammo but the latter it is trivial to clear palaces with barely spending sp just using gunshots, not only that but this is the game that gives you auto-matarukaja early on a special fusion which is one of the primary factors that makes the game super easy, it is beyond piss easy.I think people are being gaslit when they say this remake made the game easier because it clearly made it harder
All persona games are braindead baby fucking garbage even on hardestgo play SMT or literally any other spinoff retard
>>746000671Lmfao SMT is harder but Persona is leagues ahead of FF in difficulty>>746000220I refuse to play the remake because of the retarded art direction like NPC’s not having faces. The fuck were they thinking, just trying to streamline it for the Nintendo Shit or something? Outrageous
>>746000827The npcs have faces. That's also a common anime trope to save money. Who cares.
>>746000220I'm playing this right now and have had almost 0 trouble. This is my 3rd persona game after I dropped p4G about halfway through because I got a new job. P4g was pretty hard imo.
Every Persona game gets easy because you can just make the MC's personas do everything and be nearly invincible
>>746000220I think there is something about pressing R1 to automatically target weaknesses kind of quality lifed the game out of the Persona series.
>>746001128>who caresPeople with eyes, unlike the shitty Nintendo budget NPC’s and anime you’ve been watching
>>746001195OP is talking about playing on Hard difficulty, which gets ridiculous. 4, the first dungeon took me like five hours or some shit because I had to grind SP like he said
I didn't have any trouble with the original P3 or Reload, but I did notice the flaw in the formula; Difficulty is tied to not knowing information you otherwise have no way to know until the moment you need to know it. Effectively reducing any sense of potential "difficulty" to just time wasting. Oh, I needed X for this fight to defeat Y. I'll just go and get X and then come back to defeat Y, so I can progress to Z, which itself is just the X/Y cycle repeated. Basically no different from the original releases of the "Pixel" era FFs, particularly I-III.The music, tone, writing, and settings really carry the franchise. Gameplay is practically irrelevant, but benefits from having some semblance of RPing, with daily routines and interactions with NPCs and the world being more interesting than any combat encounter. Which puts it above 99% of JRPGs, most of which are just the aforementioned inane gameplay (combat) cycle with fuck all to alleviate it. Final Fantasy tries to trick you with the Job System and other customization mechanics, but they have no actual bearing on how the game plays out or your interactions with the world. It's all just fluff in most games. Persona ain't perfect, but it's one of the better ones we got. I hope P6 really tries to advance the genre. It'll be pretty disappointing if it's just P5: Again, especially considering I'll have just played P4R.
>>746000220Innocent Sin is still easier
>>746000220I dunno I have it set to easiest and rape everything with rush lol
>>746000220I'm almost at the end (Merciless) and I'm not really seeing it. For the whole game I did one trip to Tartarus after the full moon to unlock all the floors and another one to rescue the missing people and SP wasn't an issue, Reload gives you way more recovery items than the previous versions.
>>746001364You sound stupid. They're not important so who cares. >>746001407I know. I'm playing on hard. It's not that hard. I can see what the masses are talking about. Again. Maybe it's because it's my 3rd persona game and I know to max out social links and what not. But yes. It's not that hard on hard. Jesus.
>>746002271OP says SP is an issue in the beginning in all games, the difference is Reload doesn’t give you a way to recover it outside of very limited items for the first two trips (unless you get very lucky with a drain ability and spirit drain card) while all other persona games gives you ways to recover sp for free or avoid using it early on.The only way to actively recover SP in p3 is to use invigorate accessories, Ken passive, or save scum fuuka theurgy until she gives you the 80% sp restore the former two come halfway into the game. The only other way is to spend 7 twilight fragments, which are very rare early on and you need to open chests in tartarus.Like you said the game isn’t hard but it is by far the hardest of the persona games
>>746003098>or save scum fuuka theurgy until she gives you the 80% sp restoreIsn't that guaranteed if you have someone with the SP on single digits?
>>746003216Its not, but its a much higher chance if everyones SP is low. Its about 1/3 or 1/5.By the time you get fuuka though you have a large stock of SP drinks and 4 biotic packs so as long as you’re not wasteful you’re fine. The game is effectively over once you get Ken and Koromaru since those two stomp the rest of the game with their coverage and you’ll have invigorate accessories by then.
The common midwit consensus on persona games is almost always completely wrong. For example, if you look at early tier lists of p3r Yukari gets called the best character in the game because of her Passive when she is infact a carbon copy of Morgana with weaker skills and a worse passive, a character that was considered the worst by most in his game, while also having the worst damage output and utility in the game.Going back to p5 we have pic related, this character was so insanely overhyped and glazed and yet it is exceedingly clear that when you want a healer morgana is just better because all of makotos utility is worthless and her damage is mid. Even worse Haru gets consistently called the worst character in the game when she has gun attacks, the best technical element in the game, and kens broken ass second theurgy but as a fucking skill she can spam.
>>746001224That's why you stick to the original persona and adapt with skill cards.
>>746003817Modern Persona tiers are dumb because... you just use the character that has the right element/resistance. It's not like SMT where you can customize your whole party.
>>746000827I am currently playing ffx and am starting the postgame. Starting with the calm lands there is a decent bump in difficulty and the superbosses seem quite hard though i havent touched them yet. whereas i almost never got a party wipeout in persona 5 royal or 4 golden, grinding for money and xp to get better personas is all you need in those games. Ff12 zodiac age was too easy outside of the side content though. I heard the atb ffs tend to be very easy to spam to victory whereas ffx and ffxii require some tactics.>>746001707The main pitfall of the social simulation in most atlus games is that there is no open endedness. There arent different open ended outcomes like in western rpgs. Even emil has more respect for player choice. Persona games are effectively a glorified visual novel 80% of the time but even many visual novels often have varying story choices. I am saying this as one who considers 4 golden and 5 royal to be some of my favorite games. But there needs to be more depth, choice, and difficulty to combat and social simulation.
I was going to play these game but summer is almost over and I didn't get to it early enough. This game gives me summer season vibes. Persona 5 gives me autumn vibes, maybe I'll finally play it this year.
>>746005626FFX superbosses aren’t really hard they are just hp sponges and you’re required to grind for them
>>746005704I think P2 is winter, P3 and P4 are fall and P5 is spring.
>>746005626Devil Survivor is the good version of Persona that doesn't take 80 hours to beat so it actually has branching paths, playable characters that can die and time management that locks you out of things instead of being a glorified check list.
>>746005901The high level hunts and areas in ff12 were more difficult than anything in p4g and p5r. So even despite being health sponges, i am expecting the endgame bosses and areas in ffx to pack a decently hard punch.
>>746006009P4 is more of a summer game. P5 is a great spring game though.
>>746007285It can seem that way due to color scheme, but the fog, quiet town and the personal subject matter for the characters make me feel it as a fall game.
>>746000220these games are easier than pokemonare you really having trouble?
>>746003817People making guides and shit on reddit don't know how to play games so you always have these suboptimal myths creeping up. They think Yukari is good because of fire boost + maragi but Persona hates giving bosses weaknesses and thus phys mogs every time.Makoto procs more technicals because of the nuke element which is her primary utility. Raw magic damage is fucking worthless in P5R to the point I think people are on the easy mode when they sing its praises. Morgana can only proc crits (but the damage is dogshit for boss fights where crits are disabled) or use wind on burns for a technical, but his agility stat assures that he always goes first which is horrible for him. Makoto is overrated heavily as a healer because you got to go through like 3 dungeons before she gets mediarama.Yusuke meanwhile gets thrown under the rug because he needs one day (9/4) to give him charge yet he's better than Ryuji at almost all stages of the game. Starting with the simplest thing, he gets access to his best equipment pretty early and once you get strength 5 it's not hard to summon the persona needed for his best gun. It's a +6 and +7 strength bonus, which with the engine glitch makes it +26 strength. Then his multi-strike skills actually either are on par or out damage Ryuji and he gets them 10s of levels earlier than Ryuji. The reason people don't know this is because they don't know what a square root is when they read the combat formulas. Yusuke's trait is also actually useful unlike Ann's. You can also just swap in Ann when you need fire damage but she sucks every other time. Also goddamn going to Persona 5 Royal from SMTV is such a downgrade. You can't even do teambuilding. You just get the persona with OP resists (Shiki-Ouji) and morph him into whatever because Persona has almost no limitations on skill inheritance.
All Megaten-related games frontload the difficulty like crazy. Endgame difficulty is reserved exclusively for extra bosses.
Theurgies aren't really the issue. The real problem is that P3R added the Physical Boosts/Amps, Single/Multi-Target Boost and Crit Rate Amp. Passive buffs are multiplicative and allowing you to achieve a 70% crit rate is dumb. I'm pretty sure P3R does have a crit rate, but I was able to get crits extremely consistently.
>>746011219You might be right. It's way to easy to acquire and stack those
Scarlet Havoc's kinda lame though. Like I guess the sawblades are a cute novelty at first, but eventually you kinda just realize that it's that really all that interesting or theatrical.Honestly, Aigis got the cooler looking Theurgies.
