>Roleplay>With VOIPCan hardly be called roleplay.True patricians roleplay via text. It provides the following benefits:- Filters retards and low effort niggers who want to turn it into a deathmatch server with social elements- Filters ESLs or at least, people who struggle with command of the English language (writing in English is easier than speaking in it, so if they can't write in it properly they don't deserve a seat at the table anyways)- Naturally selects for people with either an inborn talent or attraction toward creativity and storytelling- More adequately identifies people who make Gary Stu/Mary Sue self insert powertrips and selects against them- Incentivizes in each person a contribution to a collective, overarching narrative; characters are established and grow their fame through in-game events rather than their OOC personality- Deeper, more immersive than having to deal with some guy putting on a shitty accent or voice with a crap mic - Its text, so your imagination is your limit as to how you envision a person's character- Selects against real life foids (and their orbiters) because foids don't generate instant halo effect from speaking in-game- Accessible to more people overall; others who have debilitating conditions or are just generally shy find it much easier to type than talk over VOIP- Discourages cheating behaviour like metagaming, e.g being in a Discord call with friends while you're also roleplaying in-game and passing each other information over the Discord call that the other characters would have no way of knowing- Discourages OOC social cliques that inevitably lead to dramaPlease note that this list isn't all extensive! Nor is it comprehensive enough to cover all the nuances of the social environment of roleplay. For example, just because text based roleplay discourages OOC cliques doesn't mean these things aren't found! But overall, its a far better environment for roleplay than over VOIP.
>>746004907Nobody does text based roleplay anymore Forums are dead and RP Discords (the only semi-living textbased medium) are chock full of the exact shit that you claimed that text based formats keep out
>>746005009I'm speaking about in-game text based roleplay, not Discord or forum roleplay.
