Sega Saturn makes me happy. I play it and the bright colorful graphics and cheery sounds make everything better.
Fuck yes.
>>746003937why is the emulator such a pain to setup tho
>>746005957Is it? I don't emulate what can be hard about it? You get the bios and configure the controller and play the game isn't that basically it?
>>746005929I should probably play this at some point
>>746006112I never successfully set it up because it was more than just that. Figured I'd just play the games on other platforms when available. I mean honestly how often am I gonna replay Bug! or Bug Too!
>>746006303Indeed you should. It's one of those games that seems overly complex at first, but once you understand it the game is quite straight forward. Also very free-form, gives it a lot of replayability.
>>746006341The idea is to play games like psychic killer taromaru, elevator action returns and bulk slash but if you're down with bug! don't let me stop you.
Saturno devorando sus hijos
>>746006412by all means recommend an emulator that's easy to set up
>>746006641Mednaffe is easy to set up on Linux Mint Cinnamon Edition
>>746006805did I sound gay when I typed that or did you just assume?
games where saturn version is objectively superior to the mame version?
>>746006641retroarch
>>746003937The way Sega of America basically intentionally sabotaged this fucking thing on purpose repeatedly to the point that they basically served up 90% of its library to the PS1 on a silver platter will never not be both tragic and hilarious.
>>746006341Bug! H.I.Three - Bugchasers Edition
>>746005957>>746006341It's just downloading and selecting a bios file, don't be such a baby.
>>746009416I don't know which one he's using, but it's not that hard nowadays, yeah.It definitely used to be a PITA though. For example, SSF used to force you to mount the disc image onto a virtual disc drive to even use it.
>>746005957Ymir is pretty easy to set up.
>>746007445It was Sega of Japan that directed Sega of America to release it too early and kill it in the west.
>>746006854You're on a Saturn apologism thread, complaining about modern emulators made for redditors being hard to set up. You'd be less gay if you were on an ERP thread.
>>746005957It's not.
>>746007216Almost all arcade ports are better on saturn because:-superior audio-rebalanced gameplay-more gameplay modes/optionsModel 2 ports like Sega Rally are better played elsewhere (like the ps2 version) because the saturn ports have significantly downgraded graphics.
>>746003937I need to dig mine out and get that SD card mod thing that plugs into the VCD expansion port.I just got a new CRT and a transcoder, and i already have a saturn + RGB cable.
>>746003937You made this thread on /vr/.
>746007445You're not Asian. Stop it. You're white.
>>746011630Sorry, I meant to quote >>746007445, I'm new here.
>>746003937Same
>>746003937Should I get an ODE for mine? The laser is wearing out and I already adjusted it a few times in the past.
>>746014195Yeah. I'd say go through the compatibility lists + install method (mpeg/ram slot vs laser removal) and see which fits your use case and budget. I use a satiator and it just werks™, but they're pretty expensive.
Blue Blue Skydrasil
>>746006401I bounced off it twice before it all finally clicked for me. I really like the fan translated second game too.
>>746006641OpenemuJust drag and drop bios and roms.
>>746003937My personal Sega Saturn picks:Radiant Silvergun- excellent shmup with a multi weapon system, you're give a huge toolset and then each run lets to experiement with them and optimize around what is mostly a boss rush game, excellent presentation.Panzer Dragoon Zwei- Saga is the meme pick, and while I really like Saga Zwei is the actual masterpiece of the franchise, incredibly music and atmosphere and the gameplay is very good.Baroque- Roguelike 3d dungeoncrawler, mostly relies on ambience, very little music but a lot of ambient noise, has an interesting story too, lots of body horror. Has a fan translation.Sega Rally- Not much to explain, excellent feeling racing game with an emphasis on physics and navigating over difficult terrain.Sakura Wars 1 and 2- Dating sim waifu game set in a theater troop during an alt history 1920s Japan, basically a playable 90s anime, it is nominally a turn based strategy game but frankly that aspect is only okay. Really great music and animated cutscenes.Fighters Megamix- 3d fighting game mixing virtua fighter 2 and fighting vipers, as well as a lot of other Sega IP, a lot of fun to fuck around with, lots to unlock, pretty good looking too. Groove on Fight- Atlus fighting game, has sort of snes era Shin Megami Tensei era art, kind of a less cartoony darkstalkers, less known but very good.Asuka 120%- Anime schoolgirl fighting game, still actually has a bit of a scene, most western players play on Saturn most Japanese on ps1 (completely opposite to most scenes.) Had a recent arcade expansion that is Japan onlyThere are a lot of other good games too, too many fighting games and shmups to count, lot of good jrpgs.
>I play itshame there's only one good game for itand it's a shmup
>>746018679Didn't it get ported?
