Big fan of Suikoden 2 and 1. I don't know which I like better.
1 I really love the Emperor accepting that his empire has fallen due to his own foolhardiness, and admitting to Wendy that he loved her for who she was, but that they have to pay their penance.
And then the hero retires, as best as he can from the world. It has an extremely maudlin feel to it. The games do a great job at capturing a certain glory and ambiguity to war.
