This shit has just become tedious instead of fun and interesting

Agreed.

that's why you play Order of the Sinking Star
>>

I feel you
At some point the puzzles become too esoteric to be enjoyable. It's stops being about having fun experimenting with the game's mechanics and starts being about trying to guess what the puzzle designed wants you to do
>>
>>746010813
you'll notice the retarded lefty that made this has not made a single other good game
>>
>>746012439
>at some point the game stops being a tutorial in how it functions at starts actually expecting me to demonstrate my understanding of it, this is bad design
>>
>>746010813
midwit take

you dont play it to completion in one sitting by just trying every combination of words, you play it for 20 minutes a day, and think over the puzzle while you do other shit, then with your mighty brain having thouroughly trounced the puzzle, you enact the solution, and realize it didn't work because wall is not push you fucking retard
>>
>>746010813
It would only be tedious if you've been pushing boxes without any logic behind them.
>>
the appeal of baba is you is that unlike most sokoban, you can ponder the solutions without actually making any moves, making it much less tedious
>>
>>746010813
Outside the box is inside the box.
>>
>>746010813
I played this when it first came out, hit a wall, and stopped playing. Then five years later I went back to it and ended up getting way farther in the game than I did before. Sometimes you just need to get smarter.

This, I am now stuck on 3 puzzles but they're so limited in information that I can just think about them at the sub.

I really enjoy puzzle games that let you sit and think for 2 hours. In that sense, Baba is You revived some of the comfy feelings I had playing La-Mulana (without the dopamine hit of solving a puzzle).

>uh just magically know you're supposed to use a bug to put words on the same tile chud
It's telling that the dev patched out solutions he didn't think of
>>
Don't worry, a legion of robotic NEETS who have all day to try every single possible input without actually deducing anything or demonstrating understanding will come and call you dumb.
>>
>>746017926
The dev patched out only solutions that would circumvent the learning journey he wanted you to undertake, which is necessary for future levels
>>
>>746010813
First time playing logic puzzle game?
They all become tedious as the difficulty passes your ability. And that's fine, you do not have to 100% them all, just move to another game and maybe revisit this if you feel more confident/bored later.
Baba is you is good because it has tons of content and it ranges from really simple challenges to really difficult ones.

every few months or so the guy releases free sokoban levels with a new mechanic on itch.io
if he strung them together and slapped a soundtrack on them it would immediately be a more worthy game than ootss

World 10 puzzles are so weird, they look really simple but I can't solve any of them.

>unlike most sokoban, you can ponder the solutions without actually making any moves
this is just straight up wrong, you can do this with almost any sokoban, in fact i cant think of any that this wouldnt work for
>>
>>746018035
>The Dev patched out all solutions except the intended ones
Yeah, that's the point. There's no room for creative problem solving, you just need to read the Dev's mind for how you're supposed to solve the stage
>>
>>746019646
most "creative solutions" are just applying simpler already explored mechanics rather than exploring the new, novel mechanic of the level
>>
>>746010813
I fucking hate this game.
It's boring and simple and repetitive and for some fucking reason a bunch of people think it's hard or that you "hit a wall" and the reason you're mad is because you didn't finish the worlds least interesting sakoban mod.
Virtually every level is solvable within 1 minute of looking around and what's around you. Even the new mechanics that get introduced, like moving inside a block at the same time as switching control, become instantly obvious because there are no other solutions to the levels in which they are introduced.
It's like having a green ball and a green cup and a droning voice telling you to "Solve the puzzle" and when you say "this is shit" a bunch of redditors go
>Ahem, filtered much idiot?
>>
>>746014309
>expecting me to demonstrate my understanding of it
I understand fully how the game works by room 2. The problem with this game is that it's one of those kinds of puzzle games where the "end state" is unknown.
In Poke All Toads, you know you have to poke all the toads AND get the Blue Fairy to the exit goal (and also either avoid getting eaten by being out of LoS, or by satiating the green toads' hunger). And you may not know the way to get there, but you can work toward it. I 100%ed that game and while I struggled with some, I never felt any of the puzzles were unfair, and it was REALLY satisfying to solve the puzzles, to finally connect A to B.
In Baba is You, you know that "something" is Win. But often times you don't know what. And considering the entire conceit of the game is being able to rewrite the rules of the level, there's absolutely no consistency between each level, and thus, nothing to build a foundation off of. With how complex the levels themselves can be, the fact the rules can be rewritten means the number of states you have to keep track of can increase exponentially, to the point where if you DO solve a level, it just feels like you stumbled into a solution by pure happenstance rather than actually work it out with logic. A good puzzle game should make you feel dumb with how obvious a solution is in hindsight, and this game never does that outside of the very early levels.

maybe your brain is bigger and has more wrinkles but a lot of sokoban levels require a quantity of moves that I find hard to mentally map pre-emptively in full
While baba is you levels tend to hinge on one gimmick you can derive from all the elements in play
>>
It does get there are a while
>>
>>746020104
how far did you get?
>>
>>746020451
Please, and I don't mean this to be rude so please forgive me if I offend, neckrope.
>>
>>746020336
maybe i have good visual memory but almost every sokoban ive played is significantly easier than baba so if you can handle it you should be able to handle most other sokobans

it was a serious question, don't act like an underage
