The old lore of the Emperor being born in ancient times makes no sense. If I were to retcon anything in 40k, I would make the Emperor be born during the Age of Strife, possibly as a result of the Warp storms that followed the Birth of Slaanesh. It makes no sense that the Emperor wouldn't have used his power to uplift and unite humanity back in the fucking Bronze Age or something.
