Hard to believe how badly Insomniac fell from grace.
They only made ten more ratchet games after that
>>746014408They were at least very good until the reboot and Spider-Man was the beginning of the end.
>>746014346Insomniac is now full of libtards and any old blood still remaining have become woke faggots themselves.
>>746014346The fate of Ratchet is honestly just sad.>PS2Great trilogy - fun humour, good soundtrack and good gameplay, even if some of the gimmicks (hoverboard races, space sections, bike races) weren't all too fun.Gladiator felt too different from the mainline platformers and I was never a huge fan, though I might replay it at some point to get a fresh opinion.>PS3ToD was still quite close to the PS2 trilogy in terms of gameplay, no issues there - though it did feel like the humour was starting to be toned down a bit, and the soundtrack started getting more "backgroundy" vs. the distinct upbeat themes and recognisable leitmotifs of the original trilogy. With QfB they got rid of the traditional distinct level selection, and in ACiT they added the space sections between worlds. ACiT was still pretty good in terms of story and gameplay, but the soundtrack continued on its downfall from ToD and the humour felt even more "safe".But after ACiT the entire series just fell off a cliff. David Bergeaud was removed in favour of some literal who for the soundtracks, A4O and Q-Force were just spinoffs with radically different gameplay, and the next "real" game (Into the Nexus) was an entire 4 years later.ItN was... okay, but it felt quite short compared to previous mainline titles and overall was just mediocre, the humour/soundtracks no longer being what they used to be either.>PS4Remake was absolute DOGSHIT and I'm just going to pretend it doesn't exist.>PS5/PCRift Apart was... better than the remake, and perhaps some of the later PS3 spinoffs, but it was still just mediocre. The fact that Rivet has since caused a bunch of furfaggot gooners to ruin every R&C discussion on this board certainly hasn't helped my view of it.1/2/3 and even ToD/QfB/ACiT came out within a year of each other, the gaps between ItN/Remake/RA are honestly insane.
>>746014346i wanted RC1 levels to get more complex with payoff for unlocking all the shit gadgets in the shop. Ape Escape 1 did it better for fuck sakes and that was 7 years prior. i remember getting game informer and every year the platformers would get a sequel and you open to page 72 and it says RATCHET AND CLANK 3 IS A SHOOTER and you yell FUCK so loud the neighbor bangs the wall

Not because they weren't trying to make it humorous anymore, but because their humor started to suck.It was the first game where they had a dedicated writer, and this is deceptive, because on the surface that sounds like the previous games were written by "anyone" and now they finally had 1 writer who was a writer. Not totally true. The animators on the previous games, and some of the lead designers would do the writing but it's not as if they weren't fully dedicated writers in that sense. They owned the story and script, between 3-4 people, and the people that did the storyboarding and plot planning was also doing the writing... like real writers do. The new guy they hired was the typical "Came through game journalism, became a QA junior" promotion cycle, and his entire job was just "writing". He did not come in with knowledge on pacing and storyboarding and all the other writer-adjacent experience the former crew had. He came in with millenial opinions about "backstory" and "lore", and in order to justify his position he had to bug everyone at the team about things that didn't really matter, like the "the backstory of a gun". He himself said that developers' eyes glazed over when he questioned them for stuff. That's not because he's super smart and heady, it's because he was wasting time on shit that doesn't matter, and making people stop listening. So it seems like they just let him do his thing, and he made a much more generic wannabe story and he also said he didn't have a clue where he was going with any of it when he had to make the cliffhanger. Then they kept him for some reason.

The faggots at insomniac saw the hecking marvel movies and immediately tried to multiverase the ratchet and clank series. We go 4 games and all of the sudden out of fucking nowhere some baby diaper faggot piece of shit joke of a villian shows up and immediately knows ratchets true name purpose?????? And all of the sudden (after 4 fucking games) ratchet cares about his unknown origins???? You immediately crash land on a random planet AND IT JUST SO FUCKING HAPPENS TO HAVE RANDOM ASS SPACE SHIP THAT IS AGAIN MAGICALLY LINKED TO RATCHETS PAST????? EVERYTHING AFTER DEADLOCKED IS FUCKING SHIT AND I BLAME STUPID NIGGERS LIKE YOU FOR SLOPPING IT UP!! FUCKING NIGGER FAGGOT PIECE OF SHIT!
>>746017492nta but the gameplay of ToD is literally almost identical to 3, nobody said anything about the storytake your fucking meds
>>746017731You are the anon, die you nigger faggot.
>>746017492Almost based. Because Deadlocked is shit too except for the humor.Ratchet 1, 2 and 3 are the only exceptional and truly good Ratchet games
1 And ACiT are the best in the series
>>746014346Favorite games from them?
>randomly get this game at like 12 because getting PS2 and need games for it>definitely took some gamestop employee's recommendation on it>was actually one of my most played games everNever really expected the series to get this popular and I really didn't care for them after the first 3. Also Dynasty Warriors 3, holy shit. What the fuck. These two games could make any 12 year old a gamer for life.
>>746020303Ratchet and clank 2 was my first and most favorite of the series. Sadly i was stupid fucking retard when i got to the magma level and thought i had to swing through the holes on the roof rather than glide to the other side.Fun game though
