Mother 1 and Earthbound are Dragon Quest clones but takes place in the late 80s/early 90s featuring aliens in sheeeet over traditional fantasy.Mother 3 is a heavily railroaded JRPG with more of a focus on story. It really wants you to be emotionally invested in characters who don't really speak, one of which is a literal monkey.
