I think my brain is just not good enough for mahjong. There are quite a few old anime games that are mahjong that I want to play but everytime I try to learn is like I was sat in front of an alien spaceship control center.All the guides start ok, these are numbers, these characters and then these are symbols and my brain just stops working, I can't store that information or parse it in any way.And then I'm supossed to be learning about moon cycles, how the wind is blowing, which emperor has the god mandate and some wierd shit.

I watched a mahjong anime not too long ago and the girls barely played mahjong across 12 episodes. There's one episode where they literally play Mahjong Soul on their phones but the impression that it gives is that mahjong sucks unless you're playing it in the background while doing anything else. The show was shit and unmemorable aside from the shameless advertisement but it was a good reminder that mahjong is shit too.
