I really like Red Engine. I hope they can make one last decent game with it.

I didn't play this game in 2016 so I fully missed out. Tried countless times to play it post 2020 but nothing about it is enjoyable within the first 30 hours.
There are so many better open worlds made since this game, you can't get anywhere in the story in 30 hours and the gameplay is boring. I'm sure if I played this on release I would have liked it

The difficulty setting does nothing except make you die in two hits (three with quen I guess lol) and make the enemies tanky. The window to dodge or parry the attacks makes witcher 3 bafflingly easy no matter the difficulty. Don't even get me started on oils and whirlwind. A rumor that's somewhat belivable (apparantely leaked alongside some later confirmed info but I haven't been able to find it's origin) says it takes place in Cidaris. We haven't seen Cidaris in a game yet but during the time Witcher 3 takes place it's occupied by Nilfgaard without autonomy like Tussaint or Temeria in the ending where you side with Roche. It's probably in a pretty bad state but less so than a direct warzone like Velen.

Kek, last time I played it I rushed doing the Novigrad plotline (the only reason you have to do this before you can start is for a single bad ending outcome) just so I could get the extra mutations and mutagen crafting. What I meant to say is that Geralt dying wouldn't be the end of the world since we have a new protagonist now and part of the rationale for Ciri becoming a witcher probably relates to Geralt retiring, dying or otherwise being absent which sets Ciri up as his successor. Besides even if Geralt dies it could be a noble and heroic death that might serve as inspiration for Ciri to follow in his footsteps.

My point is that the main selling point of Skyrim isn't the writing and most people who play Skyrim couldn't care less about it, which is not the case with Witcher 3. They are different kinds of games that appeal to different tastes and audience. Ciri really isn't main protagonist material, it makes sense ti retire Geralt since his story is finished but to replace him w8th ciri is just a baffling decision. You can tell this was a choice made during peak woke so they can have a female protagonist but the only thing this will achieve is running ciri as a character by turning her into something she is not. This goes against the point of her character, two of the endings in w3 and what Geralt would want for her. All so they can have a pre established female character that might also he a lesbian depending on how you want to interpret events from the books. People love complaining that games like Asscreed, God of War or RDR2 have too many quests where you just follow a NPC and listen to exposition, but TW3 is the only game where that felt like a problem to me.

Every quest follows the same formula, the story is absurdly slow paced, and the ludo dissonance is bad. A literal who NPC can stop me from accessing some areas, but a few minutes later my character will kill dozens and dozens of NPCs without any consequence at all, it just doesn't make sense.
