the concept is good, hunting people and holding positions after hearing some distant shots, the tension and anxiety it brings out is pretty unique. i always was worried about bringing valuable shit into a raid, knowing i could get sniped instantly by some bullshit camper in the fake foliage on the mall map. nothing really scratches the tarkov itch properly. it's also just a shit game though.

It is a legitimately bad game with an interesting gameplay loop that for some reason has infected every shooter dev into making a better Tarkov. The issue is that extraction shooters are niche as fuck.

I got into the alpha over a decade ago at this point, and fell for the hype of "potential".It's fine enough for what it is, and if you enjoy the guntism and specific elements of extraction suvival, it's great. But personally once spt and other single player mods/pve came out, I never touched pvp again, it's a complete shitheap filled with hackers. There have been so many videos and so much exposure on it, it's not even worth the risk.The biggest issue I've had, I think, is the way they've handled monetization. You can tell if it wouldn't implode their userbase they'd be selling resupply kits to give you an AK or an M$ for $10 a pop, their scummy handling of "well pve isn't TECHNICALLY dlc, and arena isn't TECHNICALLY dlc" and the re-wording of edge of darkness to the new expensive edition and removal of that specific clause is really fucking shitty.

I genuinely played this game from 2016 up to 2024 / late 2023. I tried it lately again and was really disappointing. The biggest joy of this game. was joining discord with some randoms i never met, acting retarded and accidentally Tking or getting them to TK each other. Or just bringing in funny meme gear and having fun while some kid crys because he died with all these pixel gear and u had less value pixel gear. Arena breakout infinite. Is a superior game. for me now as an older adult. Dont have to do stupid specific quest doing specific stuff on specific map with specific gear that the faggot dev wants me to. Can genuinely just ignore all quest and just play the game and explore at your own pace. Also no stupid ass "rpg" skills that punish me for having a life while rewarding the loser that has no job and never leaves the house. Also like others said this game has no kill cam, so you basically die to hackers and have zero ways to confirm if they are hacking or not.

I feel like tarkovs core gameplay isn't fun on any level.The players optimize the fun out of it by camping and playing super slow waiting to get the perfect shot on an unsuspecting player.I can win or come out even most runs if I take it super slow, but I have to have Netflix open on one screen so I dont get bored.
