Who would win in a fight?
A mech from Battletech/Mechwarrior, or an AC from Armored Core?
>>
armored core, obviously. the unhinged mobility the japs give to their mechs can't be matched by western mechs
>>
Battletech might stand a chance with earlier AC, but AC4 and above use physics-defying kojima energy shields and insane bunker buster weapons
>>
Armored core, but both are fun in different ways. AC just deals with a different ballpark of power.
>>
IRL battletech mechs would just shoot down using the lasers anything the armored core mechs fired and then hit their jetpacks like once and then stomp their cockpits in.

You're mum dildross

1v1? an armored core mech would just zip around at mach speed while a battletech mech just plodded around in circles getting pelted by missiles

>western mechs
Most of the Battletech designs are copied wholesale from Macross Destroids.

Nah everyone does every kind of mecha, especially the japanese, but there are many types and spectrums of mecha styles.
>>
armored core 100%
battletech has insane armor but they move at a fraction of an AC, and they have manual fire control which isn't going to help when your opponent is zipping around the arena at mach 2
the tabletop game basically had that issue with Land-Air Mechs otherwise known as Veritech Fighters from Macross that'd cross the board at incredible speed and zip out with next to no chance to hit them, and they've been ignored by all but the cheesiest of players for decades

>*Most (of the original designs from the first two years of the game's existence, a significant but small fraction of the hundreds of designs in total) are copied wholesale ((and then later edited to be legally distinct but retain the same silhouettes because Robotech's western owners can't keep their legal cocks in their pants and lost an important court case) due to the original independent owners of the Battletech trying to legally license the designs but ended up getting duped by a Japanese company that lied about owning the IP) from Macross (and Dougram and Crusher Joe) Destroids (and the Regult and Officer Pod and all of the original Veritech fighters)

Really fun fact, Studio Nue, which designed the original macross mechs that were used in Battletech (among other ones) would later do japanese redesigns of the battlemechs based on their designs for japan's version of the Battletech tabletop game.
Battletech was then also incorporated into a number of tabletop magazines, with even a running campagin being featured in a magazine, with artwork made for it by Kenichi Sonoda of Gunsmith Cats fame.

Depends what gen. AC1 and maybe 2 and V AC’s might struggle dud to lower mobility. Everything else though just won’t ever get hit.
