It's Christmas morning, 1987. You get your first NES with a PHYSICAL copy of super mario/duckhunt, two controllers and a NES zapper. Your family is over, maybe a few relatives and some cousins visiting for a christmas party arriving at 11am sharp. You setup the console and just as you get it ready to pop the game in and it instantly boots up. You each try to beat super mario and keep dying to the fish bridge and the castle stages. Each death you play as mario/luigi as you cheer for the other person playing to get further. You play duck hunt and shoot the ducks as the dog laughs at you. The atmosphere in the air is joy and relatives loudly talk, as christmas music plays as people get ready for the food. Your uncle sits on the couch close nearby, watching, already slightly drunk from the wine commentating on your gameplay. The CRT hums along and the sounds of the game echo in the room drowned out by the talking and music. SOVL.

Its Christmas morning, 2026. You get your first PS6. Nobody is coming over, because people dont do parties anymore. They don't do THAT anymore. People don't visit because everyone's stressed out about bills. Your parents work full time jobs and could only take one day off for christmas, nobody else could. You open the box, plug in the console, everything so sterile. You turn it on, you must create a PSN account to setup the console. But before you do that you must connect to the internet. Once your PS6 updates after 30 minutes, you finally sign in and get to the home screen. You open your game only to find a flimsly piece of paper in a plastic case with a code. You struggle to find the place to input the key for 10 minutes. Then once you finally enter it correctly, the game has to download. You wait another 30 minutes, and another because your parents are streaming a movie, and your internet provider is unreasonably slow today. You check speedtest, 180mbps, the game is 120gb. You finally download the game after almost two hours.`

It is Christmas 2026. You decide to give your kid a Windows handheld gaming PC.

He thus becomes the biggest Chad in school, and every girl wants him after seeing his cool device, and playing a gaming device for a platform that was never intended to be a handheld to begin with.

Because it's a PC, he doesn't care about physical media, and intrinsically knows that it needs to be set up anyway.
