>>746039581As a "survival horror" game, I think the gameplay was mediocre. Inventory management isn't really a thing since you have a per resource item cap, enemies are incredibly easy to run past, and the "minibosses" are so uninteresting that I was shocked when I killed the final one and got an achievement for killing them all because I genuinely thought that they were just regular enemies. Making it so they can be bypassed without killing them is a cool design decision, but is ultimately pointless. I also didn't care for the main plot, I think the story of the mining operations was actually way more interesting. Speaking of the plot, it all feels kinda contrived in the sense that everyone is showing up at this amusement park at the same time for fairly weak reasons. Stuff like the random fucking Crow themed traps that fucking spawn around areas you've already explored make no fucking sense either, but I guess that sorta thing is to be expected from the game that had spinning 1-ups as something that was on by default.I think the Detective Grimoire games are the devs' better output. The aesthetic for Crow Country was really cool at least.
It's extremely "okay."Great ambience and music, retarded nonsense plot and late game, and puzzles of varying quality.What kills replaying it for me is being reminded of the shitty respawning enemies, obnoxious toe traps everywhere, and how the isometric angle combined with being inside often makes it hard to see or engage threats.Definitely worth buying for $15 to $20 when it's Halloween season, though.

Visually it's great, it's the only indie game to nail the PS1 pre-rendered backgrounds. But in terms of gameplay I despise it just on the basis of enemies dropping money which makes it not a survival horror in my eyes. It's very much a difficult game to get into due to its difficulty, respawning enemies, time limit, lack of a tutorial, the inherent jank of being an online multiplayer PS2 game, etc etc, but once it clicks there's nothing else like it. 8 playable characters with different abilities and cutscenes, levels and puzzles that can change based on difficulty, inventory management that actually makes things difficult, multiplayer to keep things fresh, and the honor of being the only Resi with tank controls on d-pad and camera controls on left stick, like Crow Country. If you have the patience and friends for it, I think you should absolutely play it. And if you don't have the friends for it, you can still play it with bots but it definitely isn't as fun
