Define failing.

Is it gonna be an unfun hot garbage shitheap of a game full of bugs virtually unplayable on launch?
99% certainty

Is it gonna break all the previous records and be the fastest selling Bethesda game to date bringing in infinite quadrillions of $ because the consumer goys can't help themselves?
100% certainty

So you tell me, is it gonna fail or not?

It will be exactly like Starfield, most sane people will agree it's shit but there will be a loud minority of people who will praise it despite being worse than skyrim in every possible metric.
Also they will have picrel for sure

i hope and pray to god it is a better platform than skyrim
skyrim is propped up by an intricate web of literally hundreds of delicate reliant mods, mostly unsupported
bethesda loves to come in every few months with a wrecking ball and nuke the fucking nexus mods website just for fun
modding skyrim is such a fucking headache, and it is getting to be as bad as managing versions with minecraft, finding specific mods for specific versions, testing compatabilities, etc

>bethesda loves to come in every few months with a wrecking ball and nuke the fucking nexus mods website just for fun
they just released a patch to Skyrim last week and fags on reddit are crying
>>
>>746043558
This. It will just be like Starfield. Goyim will slurp it up and buy it en masse. It will then break sales record and be profitable early on. Then reviews will come, a few dickriders will say it's a masterpiece but most people would say it's trash and make bug/trash story/dialouge compilations. People's opinions would sour on the game while retaining a few brain dead people hardcore defending the game. Long term sales will fell flat and DLC would be met with lackluster sales/harsh criticism for not saving the game.

>>746041962
There is a 0% chance it wont be better than skyrim.

In terms of RPG elements Starfield was the best game since Morrowind. the problem was their menus, loading screens, and proc gen content. Bethesda is obviously going to learn their lessons going forward.

As to how well it is received by the more hardcore gamer type gamers, I dont think bethesda is good at designing gameplay that feels very rewarding to the more mechanically oriented type of person or anyone who puts in bear minimum effort into minmaxing their skills. You are going to need to tweak difficulty settings quite a bit and maybe even use some mods to fix things, just like skyrim or starfield.
I mean the vanilla kill cams are anti gameplay story game mode feature for people who play on easy mode and you need a mod to fix them or take them out to not get forced into a cutscene where your character dies, unless you play a very specific way. Bethesda having them in the way they do is a clear sign that they dont balance their games around engaging gameplay for the "hardcore gamer" type people and they balance their games around the walking sim gamer mom/dad type people. Which is a mistake, because its much easier to please those people with simply changing damage/hp % around, where as making actually engaging gameplay for hardcore gamers requires more attention to mechanics and simply changing % numbers around does not work for that type of gameplay if the mechanics are not well thought out.
>>
>>746044175
it wont be, it will be worse. and the modding community for this game will be dead like starfield. bethesda has done good chasing away their modding community over the years

Morrowind will forever be the most sovlful and interesting Bethesda game, that isn't going to change. I doubt it has a ton of players in 2026, in any case. Skyrim will always have players, just the mod autists alone will keep it going.

But I think Sentinel will be successful. The only hesitation is they didn't fire Emile after the dogshit world and story in Starfield, universally hated.

I played Oblivion first and Skyrim shits all over it honestly. Even unmodded Skyrim beats modded Oblivion. That's how much of an improvement it was. But I doubt we'll see that with ES6, they're going to do something that ruins the entire game, Bethesda is absolutely capable of that seeing how they handled Starfield.

Videogames sell on hype and hype alone. It will sell millions.
Old gamers will get swept by nostalgia, newer gamers by FOMO.

I think the quality of the game will be Skyrim-tier, i.e. they'll 100% play it safe. No real new features, no bold direction, mechanical call-backs and compromises. The game will also feel outdated by the time ti will come out, but that's fine.

Fun fact: Tainted Grail: Fall of Avelon, a game made by an AA game studio that is an open world RPG similar to bethesda games, has a better player retention rate than starfield and both games out the same year.
>>
>>746041962
Based on the trajectory the TES series has been on for thirty years as of September 20 this year, TES 6 is going to be so overly simplified that it will be unrecognizable when compared to a game even as recent as Oblivion and will be questionably and tangentially related to Skyrim.

>Skills
Magic will be reduced to 3 schools: Restoration, Destruction, and Conjuration; Alteration and Illusion will be tome/scroll only. Restoration will have two effects: restore health and restore stamina. Destruction will include the same old fire/frost/shock slop as before. Conjuration will involve yet again a slew of completely useless companions. Leveling will be done away with entirely with the perk tree there to replace it (you won't notice a difference between starting off or earning 100 perk points for combat unless you spend them). Speech is done away with, Alchemy is replaced with material knowledge of recipes (you can craft anything as long as you have the equipment and know what to mix), Armor and Block skills consolidated into Defense, One/Two handed skills consolidated into Attack, Enchanting based on material knowledge and mage guild access.

>Combat
All armor including the helmet inseparable (no more mixing and matching) and armor can be changed to appearance-only like what Ubisoft did with Assassin's Creed games via unlocks and other shit. Target lock on and autoblock based on your defense and attack skills. This makes every combat instance partially scripted in such a way that it appears very cinematic (again, think combat in the AC series). You can parry by pressing a button and that's it. No more "missing" an NPC. Archery stays but is horribly nerfed because of how the stealth archer build in Skyrim was very OP and now nobody uses archery (similar to Oblivion)

>Gameplay
Physics no better than a modified Havok system because the game engine will essentially yet again be Gamebryo. Textures and shader effects emphasized beyond everything else.
>>
>>746049541
>voiced protagonists

You have to pay voice actors. People would rather the voice actor budget went to unique NPCs not having the MC have 4 different flavors of "Yes" for every interaction.

I disagree, I found Redguard's writing surprisingly effective in its delivery. While true that characters speak more 'poetically' than a thug or an island drunkard realistically would, it added to the vibe of this being a story seen through the lens of a purposefully pulpy adventure. While being the most limited in scope, its dialogue with characters like Tobias or Dreekius made Tamriel feel much bigger and alien than it did in most other games, and Cyrus' speech right before the final dungeon is legit kino.

>Story
We're gonna continue the "who's the rightful heir to the throne" gag with three factions of Redguard warring against each other and varying degrees of racism and resentment against Bretons especially and the Imperial pantheon. Orsinium (and all Orcs) will become a major focal point in the power struggle. Blah blah blah the player character does XYZ diplomacy and ultimately leads to an unremarkable ruler who nobody will remember and has less than zero lines of dialogue after MQ is completed, affecting history in no real way. Maybe the Big Thing(tm) will be fighting against Akavir (Re: Dagoth Ur, Oblivion/Mehrunes Dagon, Dragons) which is directly ruled by some minor Daedra Lord we conveniently have never heard of. The player character will (re)build a settlement that was destroyed in [insert generic tragedy here] and use it as a base to push his agenda in support of [insert faction here] for the sake of fighting Akavir.

>Side Quests
They'll be the same as Skyrim's "radiant quest" system basically. [Random NPC] needs you to [kill/talk to/grab item] at [location with some enemies and a boss level chest]. Only difference is now you'll have a traced path (like the Clairvoyance spell in Skyrat) for all active quest objectives by default to minimize menu diving.

>Misc Features
Building and upgrading one of three possible settlements (the first is given to you for free which is a town that is destroyed in the beginning of the MQ), Ships which can't be controlled manually but are instead flavored fast travel vehicles you use for a small questline about piracy probably and a bunch of radiant quests (tm) that involve traveling to one of 10 islands in the Abecean to clear a series of other boring dungeons. You'll be able to start a shop that idly earns you gold except its practically useless as the shop earns a pittance compared to a single dungeon run you can pull at level 1.

Get me a source for OpenMW numbers
>impossible, doesn't exist
Then I don't care.

Keep coping. Pic related also, notice a certain Elder Scrolls game missing? In fact, scratch that. Notice the literal ONLY gamebryo game missing off the list?

Ain't nobody playing Morrowshit in the first place for anyone to "go back to".
>>
>>746059372
did anyone say that morrowind had a bigger mod scene? nice reading comprehension. also

lol. anyway, while there are no official numbers, looking at the amount of mods being created and downloaded for morrowind is a great indicator, retard. re-read my post's picture. very slowly. >>746058748

Morrowshit isn't a failure, we're just laughing at OP trying to act like Morrowind is the game "people will go back to if Sentinel flops" in the same breath as Skyrim.

Skyrim and Morrowind are worlds apart. In fact, Morrowind is literally the least played gamebryo game of the bunch. Ain't nobody "going back to Morrowind"

Not even in the top 10 most downloaded mods on Nexus. I used your own cope source against you.

>Steam player count
Morrowind is 2nd last, only able to beat out Fallout 3
>muh mods downloaded/created

Didn't even make the "Most downloaded mods on Nexus" top 10 list whereas EVERY OTHER Gamebryo game did lmao. All five Morrowind fans still on the internet always try this shit, you try to act like Morrowind is on Skyrims level like the OP
>people collectively going back to Skyrim/Morrowind?

When the reality is, nobody gives a fuck about your boomer shit
>>
Every flaw of a Bethesda game is them adding something new to their games they've never done before and messing it up due to their lack of feedback and experience with the new systems. Starfield was a very competently made game but the new systems of having massive planets with randomized POIs were a mistake while all the existing gameplay systems were competently done.

Sentinel wont share the same issues as Starfield since they do not need to introduce new systems and just need to iterate on their existing ones and people would just be extremely happy with a "skyrim but bigger" even if there's nothing else new in it.
>>
>>746059751
>you try to act like Morrowind is on Skyrims level
i literally never said that, you fucking retard. again, re-read what i wrote very very slowly. i simply said that it has exploded in popularity for the past 5 years and eclipsed OBLIVION and STARFIELD, you RETARD. i invite you to look AGAIN at this picture. >>746058748 take your time. i mean it.
>>
As milquetoast a lot of Skyrim was, a lot of the lore and vibes introduced by it were fantastic, and Bethesda still had a very clear vibe/idea for what the Elder Scrolls universe ought to be and feel like.

After Starfield, and the entire fucking thing feeling like it was written and designed by and for HR, exclusively, I have 0 confidence of them being even half as successful as Oblivion, let alone Skyrim
>>
>>746059976
>lot of the lore and vibes introduced by it were fantastic
just holdovers from morrowinds lore just watered down even more. have you read the lore of skyrim from this era?
>>

>eclipsed oblivion and starfield

Oblivion
>568 players in game
>645 peak
Oblivion Remastered
>1.6k players in game
>2.1k peak
Starfield
>4k players in game
>5k players peak
Morrowind
>500 players in game
>590 peak

Ain't nobody and hear me when I say this, NOBODY playing your dogshit game. Now cope more about OpenMW with your head canon imaginary player count that garbage adds. I'm sure it's right up there with Skyrim little guy!

>it will sell

We already had this happen with Starfield? And it's considered a failure. Why wouldn't it be a failure when Todd has been able to milk the earlier games in the series for literally decades, on multiple platforms, getting several sales from the same people?
You think anyone's buying Starfield DLCs? New editions for new platforms? Will they be excited for the remaster in 10 years? Fuck no. So it's a failure.

Nigga ain't nobody misunderstanding you.

You literally shifted the goalposts and let's not forget, you REPLIED TO ME. My initial post was clear and directed at the OP >>746057873

You then came in accusing me of trolling citing download figures and bringing up OpenMW as some sorts of rebuttal. Then when I literally humored your cope showing that Morrowind ironically has the lowest mods/downloaded mods of any Gamebryo game you then cope and narrow it down to a specific time frame.

I don't give a fuck, my reply to was the OP and I was stating that Morrowind is dead, I don't need to accept your goalpost shift making it about mods (where Morrowind gets BTFO also). Again you replied to me first, not the other way around. Just accept that your favorite Elder Scrolls game is the least relevant/successful and quit your pussy ass bitching you little Vivec wannabe troon.

Bonus fact to make you seethe harder. Morrowind has fewers GoTYs and lower review scores than every other TES game also, LMAO

>>
>>746060371
Idk who the other guy is. I'm the person you originally responded to:
I only played and finished Morrowind once, I never got too deep into the lore in that game besides the dunmer stuff.

If Morrowind did introduce 99% of it, then props to it. Personally, I was speaking more in regards to the Great War and the entire build-up to the civil war. I thought that was brilliant, and there is nothing in Starfield that even reaches near that level of writing. A lot in Starfield's lore just feels like shit that maybe probably did happen, but it's so far removed from everything else you see in the game that you don't really feel like you're playing in the same world as those events.
>>
>>746058748

https://www.nexusmods.com/starfield/about/stats#display=downloads&min=1104537600000&max=1787614207072&bh=ignore

Starfield was hitting 30 million this year, Morrowind peaked over its entire lifespan at 11 million. The fuck you talking about "eclipsed OBLIVION and STARFIELD"
>>
>>746061440
20 years ago only a possible ~400 million people could even afford to play a then-current video game
today that number is like 4 billion

numbers are meaningless
you aren't smart enough to understand why even though I just told you
>>
>>746061076
NTA but he's bullshitting.

Barely anything is a holdover from Morrowind lore besides the Dwemer which Morrowind barely even has anything about in the first place. There's a reason why if there's a TES lore thread on /v/ it's gonna be the Civil War or paarthurnax, neither of which has anything to do with anything Morrowind related
>>
>>746061513
If that's the case, why does Oblivion have more downloaded mods than Starfield (including Morrowind) when it came out at roughly the same time as Morrowshit

You're saying a lot of words when all you should be saying is "Morrowind is not as successful as the other TES games."
>>
>>746060283

its literally just made up by some schizos because asha tweeted something that may indicate that TES 6's title may have eight letters so there is no proof that it is sentinel in any way. could be literally anything just like how oblivions title is not related to the region nor a city either.

Morrowind is the weird TES game for not being in a province of men (Arena is basically not TES).
Don't expect any new TES game (if we even get VII) to ever be set in a non-human province that hasn't already been covered. At most Sumerset could happen but I see that probability as <5%. Elsewyr and Black Marsh never ever and frankly, Bosmer might as well be a beast race so they're out too.
If VI sells enough to not warrant Todd's execution I see the most likely outcome for VII as Morrowind 2, like VI is Daggerfall 2. Despite Morrowind being a mer province, it's still a safe bet because 1: the lore is already done and 2: people can soijak and pretend they've played Morrowind.
>>
>>746041962
I was a TES VI doomer for quite a while but I genuinely have hope it will be kino. I doubt it will be of much better quality than Skyrim, but after replaying that game recently it is still enjoyable and the TES lore and world building will always be toptier.
As long as Bethesda move away from their Fallout and Starfield writing, it will be an enjoyable experience. Anyway, all the pressure Microsoft has been putting Bethesda under has made me extremely optimistimic. They sacked a lot of deadweight and now Todd seems to actually be making an effort to court his fanbase, instead of just releasing whatever garbage he wants.
>>746049516
>does nothing wither Morrowind or Skyrim don't do better
The combat is far superior to Skyrim, and arguably better than Morrowind's (if you don't take into account how Oblivion removed spears for no fucking reason); the faction quests to Oblivion are also so much better written than Skyrim's, which are all largely terrible, story-wise.

People are genuinely not fair a lot of the time to Skyrim and its strengths, due in part to how we've been stuck with the one game for 15 years so it's been discussed to death to such a point we're not permanently stuck on "*everything* the game did was wrong because I've non-stopped watched people online shit on it for a decade" mode. Truth is more people remember characters like Maven Black-Briar than your average Morrowind NPC not called Fargoth, Caius Codes or Vivec.

>Don't expect any new TES game (if we even get VII) to ever be set in a non-human province that hasn't already been covered. At most Sumerset could happen but I see that probability as <5%
They absolutely will have to do Alinor for TES VII in 2050 because they'll have nothing left. They've already done Cyrodiil and Skyrim, and with TES VI they'll do Hammerfell and possibly chunks of High Rock. That's all the human provinces right there. Elves are more human-adjacent/human-looking than cats and lizards, and if TES VII is gonna be the last of the Thalmor Trilogy, setting it in Thalmor Island just makes sense.
