gamers who play on easy to enjoy the story are having more fun than the ones suffering on hard to prove something

Hard mode exists for losers with no talents outside of gaming. It's a cuck cage to keep low IQ engaged longer
>heh but can consoom HARDER?
after I'm done playing on easy I go back to drawing or writing, the same hard mode cuck will invest 20 more hours for the same experience but less good so he can brag to people who don't care

Yeah maybe, but both are having a way worse time than the gamers who play on hard because it's the most fun.

If the main appeal of the game is the story then there's 0 chances it had any difficulty to begin with.

Why are easy mode players so insecure that they need to let everyone know they're playing on easy mode
>>
Fun isn't everything, but some games force you to do the wrong way to get to the next level, and playing properly becomes impossible on the hardest setting like that.
Being able to choose at any time to lower the difficulty is probably the best way. Starting out hard can make it so you can't progress. Which is ok on some games, like adventure games but not on others.

And doing it the wrong way and that working is so disgusting it can make you give up on a game.

There isn't much chance a japanese game will make you better though.

>>
>>746043052
A lot of games have difficulty settings that are balanced like ass. Some games are fine on easy but on hard the game is the same but everything is a damage sponge, so picking the higher difficulty is effectively just wasting your time. Other games are best on hard because its systems get to shine there, and the easy mode sucks because gameplay that puts you to sleep is just a different type of tedium.

Most games have one objectively correct difficulty setting. Usually it is Easy, sometimes it is Hard.
>>
>>746043052
Playing on easy is super boring, I want enemies to fight back, IF the game is hard and then I make it easy by sheer skill alone then that's good game design.

Take MH for example, it is not super hard at least not until mid-late game, but the skill entry bar is still higher than other games at least on older MH titles, meaning that a newbie will struggle but still manage to win but an experienced player will have a good time.

normal. that's the "objectively correct" setting. a lot of games even designate hard as the "way it was meant to be played". you sound like a turbofaggot.

>>
>>746044393
This would imply you get some sort of security from playing a video game on a higher difficulty which would be pathetic and embarrassing
>>
>>746043052
>>746044334
Some people enjoy an easy story and some people enjoy overcoming a difficult mechanical test. The only issue is that they're competing for attention from the same industry and so they displace each other. It's not like either is inherently bad and both will always get games, but retards can never handle not being fawned over.

>>
>>746044558
i genuinely don't think you understand what words mean. the opposite of being insecure about something isn't getting secure from something else it's BEING secure, meaning you don't give a fuck. OP's post inherently believes that people that like harder shit means they are trying to prove something. there is no indication where that is possibly true unless OP himself believes that he feels like he needs to prove himself.
>>
Normal chads keeps on winning. It's the dev's intended experience. I had a retard say that every enemy/boss is easy because he beat the game on ultra extreme gaming neckbeard difficulty. Just use cheese build against the boss it wasn't that hard right? I kept telling the retard that everything will seem easy once you clear it on harder/hardest difficulty and not everyone plays on the hardest difficulty. He kept arguing back about how easy the game is and insist people use cheese builds.
>>
>>746045373
More frequently than you think, devs have no idea what they're doing when balancing a game and just chop numbers until its in a playable state. There is no trve "intended experience" most of the time.
>>
>>746045881
This, most game devs are actual rotten ass at video games and people have a hard time understanding this.

How the fuck is losing in a video game suffering? Do you not have real problems? And how do you know I don't get off on pain? Then I can't ever suffer.
>>
>>746046663
They're projecting because they played on hard once and had an unpleasant experience.
>>
>>746046663
i agree with him to a point
there are definitely games where if it isn't exactly your cup of tea you'll have less fun on a harder difficulty (and when you discuss it online people will give you shit for playing on iji modo)
on the flipside who gives a fuck, play the game how you want
so any "suffering" is self-inflicted if you end up busting your balls in a game and hating it

On my first playthrough I will always play on the easiest difficulty and fully immerse myself in the lore and atmosphere.
If I saw some game mechanics that interested me I will replay the game and focus on enjoying the gameplay.

Anon, they're toys. I don't mean this in a derogatory way, but they're just toys.
>>
>>746046069
Wasn't this readily apparent and explains why the balancing in the higher difficulties in early Helldivers 2 was so ass? Game devs did livestreams and were getting bodied at medium difficulties. Same for Deep Rock Galactic, devs getting clobbered on livestream of DD and EDD while teams of 4 randos with shitty builds waltzing through it like a lazy walk in the park.

Indeed, and games, when on normal difficulty, are toys for midwits.
>>
it depends. difficulty can be fun. i do think soulslikes have made the idea of difficulty retarded though. like yes i am going to level up i am going to use the systems that are present. there is no reward in choosing not to level or use your summons. like if im struggling i WILL summon. and this is mostly because by the time you're at the end of a soulslike the game has often become a chore that has overstayed its welcome. but noooo you have to suffer and play underleveled. the moment you ignore difficulty masochists games open up so much. games never needed to be anything more than fun.

>to prove something
oh look another retarded post by an anime poster. imagine my shock

I have a friend who always plays on easy and used to use every cheat code or whatever. the kind of guy who downloads a skyrim mod with a sword or bow that automatically 1 hits everything in a 100 yard radius every time you use it and would laugh about it. I always thought he was autistic/retarded. I never would have thought he would think he was smart for doing that stuff but OP seems like just that kind of guy.
>>
>>746050662
its literally true though. trust me soul level 1 fatigue wears off when you realize dark souls 1 was baby mode. when you get to dark souls 3 soul level 1 you're just like oh it turns out self inflicted limitations actually do eventually become retarded.

hell in dark souls 3 you'll save a ton of time by just trying the dancer over and over at sl1 because that's what it's going to feel like going against all the other bosses anyway. upgrading your weapon and rings helps but by such a small margin you are wasting your time but progressing at all. because the dancer is "the wall"

bro what is this schizo ramble? the truth about difficulty in video games.

video games have shit stories and shit writing. If you don't enjoy the gameplay part then go watch a movie retard. Gaming is not for you.
>>
>>746043052
Y-you're right. I can just cheese the game and take all the powerups I need, with no real penalty
>>
>>746051231
i did beat the dancer at soul level 1 but only barely. sadly shes not even the hardest boss at sl1 not even close. and am i a shitter? probably but its largely because i dont have the patience to die 100+ times to a boss. hell i even killed pontiff somehow i genuinely dont know how. aldrich hard filtered me and im not afraid to admit it. very difficult and unfun at sl1.

say what you want but you are meant to level in from software games. just because you have the option of not doing it, it doesn't mean you're supposed to.
