>>746043316re:zero the anime is pretty goodis this game any good?
>>746043316>>746043374I have pic related on my library but never really got into it, is it any good? This was like 5 years ago or something. All I remember was the gore and the girls dying horribly.
>>746043701You can feel the ambition desperately outreach the game's budget mainly in the scope of the environments versus how they're described in the story, but I thought the combat system with pinball mechanics was neat and the story is very interesting and unhinged. The Switch version of the first two games runs like complete ass in handheld mode but if you can do boost mode on a Switch 2 it's acceptable.
>>746044491Shit, I haven't try it on the boost mode, I just might do that now. But still, the fucking girls dying horrible deaths because I fucked up something (as small as my mistakes were) really made me drop it, filtered even. What is the Code Z thing from OP though, a DLC? A deluxe edition?
>>746044650Third game, it progresses the plot though gameplaywise it's a spinoff that plays like a Mystery Dungeon game. It also has over 100 different death scenes with unique ones for every single regular enemy, sub boss and boss. Seeing cute girls get gored is the mission statement of the series, you won't have a good time if you don't jive with it.
>>746044650>the fucking girls dying horrible deaths because I fucked upYou're actually supposed to seek out those "death ends", you get permanent stat boosts from each one. And there's like 47 or something. Some have CG's, others just text.
>>746045136Well, goddamn. Thank anon, a shame because I seriously like the art style.
>>746045184>supposed to seek out those "death ends", you get permanent stat boosts from each oneIs that right? I might have completely overlook that if true. Thanks anon appreciate the reply.
>>746043316The composer for 5/6 did the music for that Loop8 game and the final boss track is quite kino
The Persona 1&2 devs are behind this one
>>746045308Actually I have an anecdote about him (Noriyuki Iwadare) as well, he made the music for pic related too which I played recently. Maybe less surprising since he's a freelancer.
>>746043374>>746045136I’m currently playing it and feels they cut a lot of corners. Every DERQ does, sure, but Code Z is the one that feels the weirdest in its existence.Like, at least we get the cast of DERQ2 to be explored and maybe I’ll get some answers in how Marbas ties in all this, but it’s like they had the “skeleton” of the game ready and had to wing the rest, rather than having completion of 50% and needing to make deadlines meet with the latter half.I enjoy how it feels Mary Skelter-ish with roaming Glitch Girls in the Mystery Dungeon but aside that not much of a fan of the game.Opinion is subject to change if the story finally answers some of my questions
Also I miss Mary Skelter. I get that with the magazine company they had to end the series, and it ended with a bang, but I still wished for more…
>>746045568I like the story for finally fleshing out 90% of the cast for the first time like the Ludens quartet and the true identities of the World's Odyssey avatars plus a bunch of the side characters, I also found it appropriately twisty but not enough to be entirely unpredictable e.g. I figured out Sayaka was connected to Ripuka pre-release and it hits a lot of the notes I was hoping for. I don't even mind (ending spoilers) the game literally telling you "to be continued in DERQ 3" though I did mind Arata getting fridge'd again in the meantime. I agree about the gameplay though, they kept it way too simple with just one playable character and no combat skills. Exacerbated by me being insane and going for all 104 death ends and thus having to more than double the play time in dungeons to farm them.
>>746046282Alright that's acceptable.
>>746043316You actually play that garbage?
>>746047401it spawned a multi million dollars franchise so by all means is not garbage
tried playing DERQ1 but the game really wants you to see the girls die from taking the obvious bad choices but at the same time it doesn't have save points right before them so you usually have to redo multiple fights which seems pretty contradictory
>>746048072You can save during dialog by clicking left (or was it right?) stick, there's a prompt in the top right corner, but somehow people still miss it, I guess ADHD is at an all time high.
>>746048185was there? maybe I'm blind after allI should try playing it again but it runs like hot ass on both the switch and deck so it'll have to wait ig
>>746045365dogshit slav artpass
>>746045365Has this already released? It completely passed me by after the announcement.
>>746047401I have a soft spot for Compile Heart's mature-rated games, you can tell they do want to tell stories beyond just comedy and fanservice.
>>746049630Mary Skelter is 95% fanservice though??
>>746049831Not really.
>>746049630I miss Mary Skelter so much.
how do i instill the patch for mary skelter 2?
>>746049931Yeah really, all characters are just fetishes with a 1 note personality.
>>746043316Oh hey, just picked up the first game the other day. been alright so far, I just hit chapter 3?(I just found the picture of the male MC in the ruined town and fought the giant robot).
>>746050053Just follow the instructions? Why are zoomers so god damn stupid.
>>746045929Love these games but holy shit they're janky as hell. Mentioned in the last Dungeon Crawler thread, but started Finale recently and turning in side quests caused my game to soft lock.Did fix that issue though. Apparently if my headphones aren't plugged in, turning in side quests causes the game to soft lock. Plugging them in before turning in the quest causes it to turn in fine. I have no idea why the fuck that's the fix but whatever.
>>746050306>headphones unbrick your systemwhat the fuck?
>>746050453my only real guess is that it's waiting for a voice or sound clip to play for the side quest to turn in, and wif my headphones are unplugged, it's not seeing the sound bite playing and just keeps waiting for it.Or something, that's the only thing I can realistically think of. I tested it quite a lot and it's consistent enough where I can say for sure whether the headphones are plugged in or not is the reason it soft locks.
>>746050608that is so fucking bizarre
>>746050306OP here, Code Z froze on me like six times during my playthrough and never during gameplay, it was always during dialogue scenes with absolutely nothing special going on. No idea if the issue is with the game's base code, the Switch version specifically or the English Asian version I played. Thankfully the game auto-saves every five seconds so it was never an issue, but it was weird.
>>746050306>turning in side quests caused my game to soft lockWhat the shit?> my headphones aren't plugged in, turning in side quests causes the game to soft lockWhat the hellBut yeah it has its issues. They got better with dungeon designing and that stuff over time, but since Finale is the 3 parties game, it also means we are much more restricted in what we can do by then. At least they dropped the huge sparse unrewarding dungeons from the original Mary Skelter though from 2 onwards they tuned the balance in too much since people were using the same strategy everywhere.
>>746050776Oh right, it could also be undocumented Switch 2 compatibility issues.
>>746050812Yeah, I do remember the balance in the first game being borked. In the player's favor, but still.I'm not sure wwhat they were thinking letting you sneak around the final dungeon so early(and as a result, get absurdly strong equipment way earlier than you're meant to), but I'll take being too OP over things being damage sponges.
>>746050869Headphones anon here, it's the PC version that was doing it.
>>746050964Mary Skelter 2 and Finale felt just right on hard difficulty, never needed to grind but they always kept me on my toes because bosses were powerful but would also go down fairly quickly. I tried playing both the first two Death end re;Quest on hard and I had to switch off partway through both times because the bosses are just insane damage sponges and I'd eventually lose through sheer attrition. 2 was somewhat manageable thanks to Super Knockback letting you rack up crazy damage, but that in itself is a very random mechanic and it was just not fun. Code Z doesn't really have separate difficulty levels but rather settings that dictate how much you lose if you die and how much your character resets once you finish a dungeon. It was a very easy game no matter what. (spoilers) The story tries to integrate the difficulty selection into the climax when the villain attempts to copy the MC's stats, (You) are told to raise the difficulty to the setting that resets the MC to level 1 every time and the villain ends up screwing himself over. It was very funny but I had played the entire game on that setting to the twist was lost on me, I was like "yeah, no shit that's what's going to happen to the villain".
Was the PC port of Mary Skelter 2 fixed or does it still crashes at random?
>>746043316I only played the first one and the gameplay was atrociously bad. It made me want to go back to the visual novel sections and READ.Then when I beat the game I got a BAD ENDING and it wanted me to replay the entire game again. Nah, Compile Heart still can't make games and without fanservice now their company deserves bankruptcy.
>>746052204You uuuh, had to complete all the Twenty Bear Asses sidequests from the rat vendor NPC, which is the trigger to unlock the true ending because ???
>>746051561NTA but I agree there. I mean, MS2 still can have you spam that... what was the name? Logic class? The one that influenced the Jail Roulette, but that aside it had the right difficulty than spamming that AoE bloodying skill and making everyone go Massacre ModeFinale makes it more restrictive with limited parties but at the same time it encourages far more you to use what the game gives you. I actually enjoyed having to use suboptimal classes for the necessary stats, like needing more sturdiness or more speed at the cost of losing damage and the like. In the previous Mary Skelters I just min-maxed because I could use duplicated classes and the like to cover the downsides. In Finale, everyone has a role and without dupes you need to use more of that versatility in their trees.
>>746052204Arata mentions early on that their intended game to get the True End needed you to do all sidequests. It was the game subtly telling you the same applies to DERQ.I think I went NG+ instead.
