No man's sky is high IQ faustian game

If it wasn't for the aesthetic and survival crafting aspects it'd probably be my favorite space game.

The aesthetic is great. Hyperealism is overdone and unimaginative.
You can just play creative if you don't want survival crafting
>>
Does anyone know how it plays in vr?
>>
>>746044781
I don't hate it but I prefer the look of something like elite dangerous or star citizen. I dunno, I think I really like being immersed in space sims and I never really am with NMS, but that could be due to other factors too.
>>
>>746044878
Yea it's probably the best VR game out there. Going EVA in space outside your corvette is a surreal moment in VR
>>
>>746044781
Any graphical mods or shaders used in that clip?

>rework planets to host multiple biomes and more interesting terrain so that no two planets ever fully look alike. i want to build a base somewhere with actually interesting views as if i were playing minecraft with a good world gen mod
>have inhabited planets also possibly have whole interconnected cities, rural areas, local economies, and relevant quests and various jobs you can do to effectively justify living on a single planet for some time so you have actual reasons to spend more than five minutes somewhere
>more wildlife variety, specifically animals that take on alternative forms or function that differentiate them from the rng template free roaming goobers all creatures right now work off of
You're almost there Sean. Game is still as deep as a puddle but you're this close to having something actually crazy.

I played this last december.
The space combat felt low iq to me. The ground combat against the sentinels was alright.

Nope
>>
>>746045303
playing it for the combat is a sign of low iq
>>
>>746044878
its pretty good at showing of what you can and cant do as a player in vr.
>>
>>746045685
They should remove the combat then
>>
>>746045774
What do you mean by this?
>>
>>746045874
No it has it's uses.
For example going on a dead world with no atmosphere and low gravity, shooting at whispering eggs and then killing the tyranid swarm attacking you with your arsenal of weapons - free roleplay of doom or space marine
>>
>>746046261
>free roleplay of doom or space marine
i can do that right now in my living room nigger
>>
>>746046486
low iq response
>>
>>746046261
>roleplay

Elite Dangerous is so frustrating because it's an absolutely gorgeous space sim but there's fuck all to do. Once the thrill of your first accidental frameshift jump too close to a star wears off, you're just bored. If they could combine that exploration with a decent story, rpg elements, some kind of fun gameplay loop, it would be my favorite game of all time.
>>
It really is a hard fact that you need to be intelligent to enjoy it. I have not once seen a stupid person enjoy it because they just shoot rocks and dig in the dirt like morons.

shallow as fuck gamea for toddlers
prove me wrong
>>

Planets can be normal now. Several major changes have happened to generational tech as the game has gone on.
The next update "Cosmos" is supposedly going to change the core rules of how star systems generate as well.
>>
>>746047514
You are a retard and actively chose to play the game in a boring shallow manner.
This is the case literally every time.
>>
>>746047390
It's because they need to be told what to do
>>
>>746047386
Yeah I agree. Also frustratingly star citizen comes the closest to my ideal space sim but it's a buggy, poorly performing, unfinished, live service game that has long since stopped being an actual project and is just a money siphon now.
>>
>>746047386
>Elite Dangerous is so frustrating because it's an absolutely gorgeous space sim but there's fuck all to do
Remove the sim and this describes NMS too
>>
>>746047076
you need to buy a 60$ game to roleplay, i can roleplay in my mind for free. who's low IQ again??
>>
>>746049992
building your own ship, base and being able to move around in them already puts nms was above ed. Not to mention water worlds are a joke in ED where you can 20km deep in nms now
>>
>>746050238
Flight model and better combat puts ED way above NMS
>>
>>746050317
Caring about flight controls is autistic and the point of nms isn't combat, it's not a stressful game
>>
>>746050571
>caring about how good gameplay feels is autistic
average NMS fag
>>
>>746050676
flight controls are hardly gameplay anyone should care about. This isn't a flight sim that's there to annoy you with ovecomplicated controls
