Copyright law did not exist until 1710.
Claiming exclusive ownership over an idea or particular type of knowledge is a prideful sin and tantamount to playing God.
Intellectual 'property' is anti-Biblical.

Stealing a product that cost 2 billion and many years of hard work—including frequent crunch periods—is just as anti-biblical as stealing an apple, for which someone had to pay for the land, seeds, time, and labor.

What product? I'm not walking into a Gamestop and pilfering a physical copy, which would in fact be stealing given that there is a tangible product being stolen. All I'm doing is downloading data off of the internet, and data is not physical. I'm also not claiming that I wrote the data, nor am I intending to profit from redistributing it. You have no leg to stand on in this argument.

>I'm also not claiming that I wrote the data, nor am I intending to profit from redistributing it.
And that's exactly the point—you wouldn't be able to create that kind of content on your own, and your benefit is the enjoyment you get from it, just like with any other form of entertainment, such as a movie, TV show, or music. Why do you have to pay for a movie or the opera if you don't receive any physical product, but only an experience and enjoyment?
>>
>>746045784
Yes, just like new ways of arrange a brush across paper, film shots, new forms of dialogue, staged scenes, or even simple little tunes. Please tell me you're just pretending, please
>>
>>746045973
>why do you have to pay for a movie
I pay for the privilege of entering someone's private property to watch the movie there amongst others, as well as partaking in foodstuffs being offered to enjoy during the movie presentation.
>or the opera
Again, I am paying for the privilege of entering someone's private property to witness the opera being performed.

The experience of going to a theater, stadium, opera hall, etc is vastly different to the experience of watching/listening to it on my computer or TV. That is what the payment is for. Just as any payment rendered for the purchase of a video game is for the convenience of either having it available as a physical copy, or included in a digital library hosted by another private entity.

>new ways of arrange a brush across paper
The brush, the paint, and the paper are physical components leading to a physical product.
>film shots
Rendered on a physical device such as a camera, a data storage center, a roll of film, and so on, before then being transferred to a disk or tape or other form of physical media storage.
>new forms of dialogue
Imagine unironically believing that you can claim exclusive ownership over saying certain words in a certain order.
>staged scenes
Performed by actual individuals trained to enact them before an audience.
>Simple little tunes
Imagine unironically believing that you can claim exclusive ownership over a certain sequence of notes.

I'm more concerned about you not being able to grasp the fundamental difference between what is physical/tangible and what is not.

>I pay for the privilege of entering someone's private property to watch the movie there amongst others, as well as partaking in foodstuffs being offered to enjoy during the movie presentation.
As I recall, the ticket doesn't say that I'm authorized to enter private property; rather, it's an authorization to watch a movie on a specific date and time in a specific movie theather. Food and other people are optional.

>The experience of going to a theater, stadium, opera hall, etc is vastly different to the experience of watching/listening to it on my computer or TV.
How?

>Just as any payment rendered for the purchase of a video game is for the convenience of either having it available as a physical copy, or included in a digital library hosted by another private entity.
And that's exactly what you get in exchange for your legal purchase; I don't understand the point of that statement

>The brush, the paint, and the paper are physical components leading to a physical product.
However, when you pay for admission to a museum or art gallery, you’re only given a certain amount of time to admire the individual works, and you can’t take them home.

>Rendered on a physical device such as a camera, a data storage center, a roll of film, and so on, before then being transferred to a disk or tape or other form of physical media storage.
And yet you go to the movies without getting a copy of the film on a disc for yourself. Besides, what are video games made on if not on physical devices?

>Imagine unironically believing that you can claim exclusive ownership over saying certain words in a certain order.
Why don't you come up with some great dialogue for yourself, so you can entertain yourself forever?

>Performed by actual individuals trained to enact them before an audience.
Ohh, let me guess—they won't let you take those actors home with you.

>Imagine unironically believing that you can claim exclusive ownership over a certain sequence of notes.
Same as the dialogs

>As I recall, the ticket doesn't say that I'm authorized to enter private property; rather, it's an authorization to watch a movie on a specific date and time in a specific movie theather. Food and other people are optional.
You're only adding to my point. It has nothing to do with the movie itself, rather it is about the experience of being able to watch said movie on a specific date and time and in a specific theater, with the option of doing so in the company of others and with foodstuffs to enjoy during.

>How?
The only response I'm going to dignify this with is that you really need to learn what 'acoustics' are and why they matter in live performances.

>And that's exactly what you get in exchange for your legal purchase; I don't understand the point of that statement
The point is that the payment is not for the game itself, rather it is for the convenience of having it readily accessible by a specific means. Why do you think all purchases are made with the understanding that you are buying a 'license' to play the game, rather than purchasing the game itself? This also means I can choose to forego that offered convenience and acquire the game by separate means which don't cost money.

All of these arguments are based on the fallacious supposition that I intend to confiscate the product or performers as my own property, even though they are tangible, physical, and in the possession of another.

I can't take the art pieces from a museum or art gallery, but I can take pictures of said art pieces and admire them from the comfort of my own home, even if the experience of witnessing them personally in the museum/art gallery is fundamentally different.

I can't force the actors and performers to perform at my beck and call, but I can record their performances and, again, admire them in my own home despite the experience of watching them perform in person is fundamentally different.

1s and 0s don't belong to anyone, nor do notes and words.

Nothing sadder than some NEET loser like (You) that constantly starts pointless arguments, spouting views that he doesn't actually support and doesn't change anything either way. You're not even trolling, you just have no friends and can't get other people to converse with you by any other means.
Get a pen pal or something, this is pathetic beyond belief.
