It also had issues at launch like wrong inputs in movelists that lasted multiple patches. I suspect WB games rushed them to release the game though. I know they were behind cutting support for the game short. Ed Boon stated he wanted at least 2 years of support but it only lasted a year.

MK11 went a different direction and slowed things down and tried to emphasize neutral/spacing and all that shit. Even removed the run button. I don't hate it for doing it but you can kinda see why it creates subsets of people that prefer entries over another. MK 9 and 10 feel kinda close. 11 feels very different from those two. Then you got 12/MK1 feeling even more different than 11.
