I know that's a nothing statement, but that's what it is. It feels like SCP made "for a wider audience" the game. The inspiration lacks so much of what made SCP good. the redactions where not supposed to fully obfuscate what the SCP actually did, the containment procedures are supposed to be written in a way you could infer what the redactions actually were. That's the fun part of SCP, solving the mystery of what these things are past the red tape of the foundations secrecy, that "oh shit" moment that here never comes. Here though, they are... so fucking boring. A Merry go Round that makes you Air dash, a T.V that lets you levitate, Mold men, an infinite bullet gun, nearly zero horror. The most interesting object was probably the Hotline, but that was also done a million times better in the SCP story "Operation Galahad" It's also full to the fucking brim with pseudo science jargon. I can only take some many, "The theoretical mass of the biosphere integrates with the surrounding nexus to create a super residence in resonance with our own collective unconscious" type talk so many times before I can't help but tune it out. It's nothing, and that why "it insists upon itself."

should i play this game?
>>
Also to digress, They totally would have made Max Payne about a man actually stuck in a modern day prophecy of Ragnarok as opposed to a story heavily inspired by the myth if they still had their hands on him.

If you enjoy generic yet competent third person shooters. The main things holding it back are the boring enemies and the awful upgrade system full of meaningless +2% upgrades. The story is mostly just dull talk about things that happened off-screen in the past, but at least it's easily ignored.

I mean, I hate it, but I did finish it. The gameplay itself is not that bad, and neither is the environment. It's cool to traverse, but it feels like a kid playing with Legos. the story isn't good, but there's alot of cool set pieces.

I beat the game on standard with nearly zero use of the upgrade system. I found a few +25% health mods, and upgraded the rock throw ability to max and had zero trouble for the rest of the game.i think i died like 4 times total, and 3 of those was really in the early game.

you can just skip the cutscenes and not talk to any NPCs
crimson desert is more insistent on rambling by not letting you skip cutscenes

dam if the story sucks i guess i wont bother.

I got lost a bunch and the map is annoying

It's okay

Yeah, it's fun.

you are a retard

Eh, Yeah? The story is really up it's own ass. The only thing carrying it is the gameplay, which isn't that bad, BUT! If you asked me to play it again now after having finished it? I probably would be fine with dying having never played it ever again in my entire life.

If you like SCP and sci-fi at all you'll probably like the story.

why does she look like THAT in resonant

Jesse is cute. The agency building has a few comfy areas. The rest is generic drivel that I dropped after a few hours.

Started it recently. During the first 1-1,5hr I thought I was going to pass out from boredom.
But once you unlock powers and weapons, it gets at least OK. Combat is pretty fun (but I really likes flashlight combat in Alan Wake, so I guess I don't require much), environments are great.

The worst thing so far is actually the imbecilic inventory limit for mods. Such pointless, unfun design. What the fuck were they thinking?
On Nexus I don't see a mod for expanding that.

It can be good if you are a midwit who enjoys reading books in Skyrim. Immersing yourself in the atmosphere and lore and all that. Game opens up with levitation which is around halfway in main story. Combat and inventory management though...
Ending also fizzled out and leaves you with uuuh i guess? with main game and both dlcs. No it's not profound and avant garde to have a non-ending.

Do you want to play a generic third person shooter with a story that isn't that good either?

The whole point of Control's SCPs is that they're not at all like SCPs. They are completely different. This is why the focus of the game isn't them.
They're not mysterious creatures or items or whatever that can do anything, Controls objects of power are scientifically explainable phenomenons and their effects are quantifiable.
They are not eldritch nor are they incomprehensible. They come from humanity itself and so humanity can wield and/or fight them appropriately according to the concepts surrounding their creation, which are often left unknown. It is merely inspired by SCPs, that is not their nature.
The hiss is the enemy because it is a being of its own, entirely different in nature. Rather it is close to actual SCPs we know.
But yes if the pseudo science nonsense made you cringe then not much i can say. That's the fate of fictional researchers on supernatural stuff.

They've been giving the game out for free. It doesn't hurt to just try it. I can't say I'd recommend it.

I just hate how most of the game is just Jesse being a bland no personality girlboss and all the story scenes are boring while all the lore is buried in hundreds of papers scattered with extensive walls of text
You can tell they put some effort in the world building but the execution is just poor and tedious, and jessee sucks as a main character, but at least the sequel will use the best character in the game
