What's the verdict on the Final Fantasy Pixel Remasters? Are they 1:1 with the NES and SNES originals?
>>746054918uh no. very far from 1:1for example, there is a minimap that just tells you exactly where to go on every screen
>Isn't actually accurate to the originals wrt balancing>ditches TOSE content (even though it's also developed by TOSE); regardless of how you feel about its quality it disqualifies them from being definitive>scraps unique artstyles of later games and makes every game look the same>brutally mogged by Dragon Quest I-III remakes>the music is good, howeverIt's pathetic how SE keeps treating rereleases of their most known series, and somehow Pixel Demasters aren't even the worst of it when Type-0 "HD" exists or that one time when they outsourced FFX to some Chinese sweatshop who couldn't for the love of them not fuck up the character models
Well it's weird because for 4-6 for example, they're actually ports of the GBA versions - but with all the extra stuff removed. Then plenty of nerfs to enemies and difficulty
No, they're not even close to 1:1. There's tons of differences in both graphics, translation, and gameplay, most of which make them worse than the originals or romhacks of the originals.
they're bizarre hybrid fuckup attempts in Unity to make games that use modified GBA scripts, sometimes the assets from the GBA versions, sometimes they redraw monsters to be closer to the original releases and not later versions, new character sprites, QoL tweaks that neuter aspects of the games like the maps, and TONS of tweaks and rebalancing across the bunch. FF3 is a lot easier than the FC or DS iterations, in due part because the jobs got overhauled in some cases, Sage and Ninja got mega nerfed to not be end all be all, and autosaves completely remove the frustration of doing the entire crystal tower over again since you just start the room over. also doesn't help that nearly all extra content from later ports was completely excised - selectively, since Chaos still has the HP of his PSP version balanced for an entire extra dungeon.i don't think they're BAD, they're mostly fine besides the weird pixel stutter from inconsistent movement speeds in traversal, but they're some seriously wonky dick shit.
>>746054918Can't speak for all of them, but they aren't anything like the Nes games due to actually being fun and playable.
>Remake the game>Call it a remasterWhy are they like this?
