Take the prebuilt pill
>>
Probably cheaper these days
>>
my 5060 just werks
>>
So the best way to upgrade your CPU and get RAM right now is to buy a prebuilt with a 5090 and resell it?
>>
>>746061039
Might wanna snap up that 45L desu
>>
>>746061039
Let's say hypothetically prices were back to normal.
Was the 5090 even a good card?
>>
>>746062727

no, it's just a bigger 4090 chip. brute forcing more performance with more heat output, not a generational improvement
>>
>>746061039
does this matter? If the AI bubble doesn't blow up within 5 years NVIDIA will straight up quit the PC gaming market altogether.
>>
>>746063502
MSRP wise it scaled linearly with 4090 performance and has 33% more vram
>>
>2060 super
>tfw still going strong and no real need to upgrade
The only reason I might want an upgrade is for VR whenever the Frame happens but it's not that big of a desire.
>>
There is no reason and no game worth a 5090 but pre builts usually last longer than custom builds.
>>
>>746064738
>There is no reason and no game worth a 5090
And at this point there never will be.
>>
Did I fuck by not upgrading my 3060ti before prices went up again?
>>
>>746061039
>got a store credit card and bought a prebuilt during covid instead of the scalped PS5
>>
I bought one of these prebuilts with a 5080 before prices went crazy because it was a good deal, weird that it took so long for people to catch on
>>
it's really wild how much of an utter flop the 50 series is
>>
>>746064864
Yes. Your window was last year, when every PC community discussion space was screaming about how the tariffs would skyrocket prices soon. While it ended up not exactly being tariffs that caused all this, you should've heeded the warning bro :\

I took the laptop-pill.
I stand by my statement that the clamshell is the perfect design for gaming. Nintendo got it right with the DS and foolishly didn't follow it with the Switch.

Man. I hate gaming laptops. I mean you do you but I got one to pass the time at work forever ago and it was such a pain.
>Gets hot with gimped hardware
>Smallish screen
>No full keyboard
>FWEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
>Down low on the desk and not at a nice comfy angle
Just ain't worth it, man. I mean I know you can fix a couple of those things with a separate monitor and a keyboard and mouse to plug in but I might as well just stick with a desktop at that point. Being able to fold it up and carry it around was nice. I've had a few projects since that having a decently powered computer that is portable came in handy but still. For playing vidya? Laptop is the worst option. I'd prefer consoles to a gaming laptop.
>>
>>746061039
I was just looking at a 5080, 64 ddr5, 2TB, ultra 9 for $2700. I think it’s an alright deal, but I have every damn console already
>>
ill just buy a 5080 super when it comes out
>>
>>746061541
Free computer?
Hmmmm
>>
>>746061039
>reality check
Prices are so high because production can't keep up with the amount of GPUs that are being bought.
>>
Klarna maxing

>>746061039
Surely arbitrage would fix this. Otherwise I could buy that PC and sell the GPU for more than it's worth. Then I could choose to either sell the rest of the PC for free profit or just buy another cheaper GPU. In the UK the 5080 is same price as it was at launch here, which is roundabout £1200.

>>746067076
That's about what i paid for my pc when all was said and done around Christmas last year, and i only have 32gb ram
>>

>Lying on the internet!
Post your specs or you're just proving that you're lying, buster!
>>
>>746061039
where do I get this $4709.99 HP Omen Max with a 5090? I only see them for $6k+
>>
>>746074205
You were too late, they caught on quick and upped their prices.
>>
>>746074292
Oh, well. I already have a 5090 anyway. Might have picked up that prebuilt for that cost anyway, though
>>
I don't even want a 5090 I'm afraid of it catching fire
>>
>>746074568
not as much of a worry with the Asus ROG Astral 5090 since that has pin monitoring so you'll likely have forewarning before anything bad happens
however that was the priciest AIB model at launch
>>
>>746064531
>ASUS Gtx 970
>tfw still going and no real need to upgrade
Between specs all being rated for 4k and all the upscaling tech 1080p still hits 60fps on most titles

No I don't give a single shit about games that require ray tracing, the new Doom can fuck right off
>>
Ew HP....
