>One of the major features of Earth Defense Force 6.2: Invaders from Another World is the “extreme” sense of despair that players feel as even larger swarms of enemies rain down upon them. At their peak, the sheer number of enemies is roughly double that of Earth Defense Force 6.

>The missions are based on those from Earth Defense Force 6, but more than half of the existing missions have been updated. Additionally, the number of formidable enemies, which previously only appeared in Earth Defense Force 6‘s downloadable content missions, has doubled, and they will now appear in the main story.

>There are also completely new missions, making this the game in the series with the most missions yet.

>The game also introduces the series’ first weapon customization system, allowing players to modify weapons according to their strategy, such as customizing an assault rifle with custom ammunition that adds a combustion effect, or loading a rocket launcher with rockets that have a freezing effect

So I'm going to guess if they intend to implement more missions into the game, story-wise, this either could mean the Professor's "nuke the fuck out of Mars" plan backfired and thus caused another set of mutant life which in turn led to the Primer mess or if DLC2 was some indication, Malice might've succeeded in sending that information before getting shut down.

I didn't mind the DLC1 enemies (the blue wasps spawned in little numbers there too) but the blue type-3 drones became my biggest nightmare as a Ranger.

I actually managed to made a few IRL friends (who are mostly PC gamers) play EDF and we occasionally play splitscreen coop like I mentioned earlier.

Every sequel in EDF always includes changes that feel like they always should've been there, meaning it's one of the few series where each new game is legit the best version mechanically compared to the last. You can still play the older ones for the story, as at least those tend to have some really cool set pieces and equally silly dialogue.
>>
>>746075708
it would unironically be op.
Missions are balanced around the allies you have or don't have. Plus it wouldn't make sense to call in reinforcements during a mission where the EDF is on it's last leg, which is very common in 6.
It would certainly be fun though.

2025 (that's EDF4) went from chugging at 10 FPS on PS3/X360 to a more stable 40/60 FPS on PS4.

It's been 10 fucking years though, EDF6 was also already on the PS5 so this 6.2 shit feels completely unnecessary.

I wonder if it'll really just be EDF 6 2. With the new enemies they might be hinting at something. Lorewise considering the fact that there's new enemies that weren't in 6 this really might be a sequel? If not a full fledged one then perhaps something that adds new story content to set the base up for a new EDF.

>>746076989
Yes, DLC1 is likely one of if not the very first time the aliens invaded Earth, and in response to the aliens taking over several cities, the EDF launch nukes that destroy a fuckton of the planet but do successfully repel the aliens. DLC2 is a training AI made by the EDF to train their soldiers with, but it goes rogue. Because the AI always has to go rogue.
>>
>>746077084
Malice doesn't go rouge she just gets angry she can't do her job because Storm 1 are that good.
>>
>>746076989
Dlc 1 has a story that relates to the main plot. Dlc 2 is a star trek holodeck that generates impossible missions to train edf soldiers. Except Storm 1 keeps succeeding and it pisses the ai off. Unless that anons suggestion turns out correct then it does have major impact on the story.

EDF 6 actually has quite a coherent story with resonant themes built on throughout the game.
It's just that no one listens to the dialogue that illustrates this because they see EDF as a haha funny turn your brain off and shoot bugs game...
>>
>>746077679
Should be in your steamapps folder, you want 'compatdata' instead of 'common', then just look for the folder that matches the game's steam ID, should be able to follow any sort of 'appdata' path from there, or just delete the whole numbered folder if you don't mind losing your progress.
>>
>>746077910
EDF6 has a story that you will miss a lot of the context for some missions if you haven't played EDF5, but it does have a shockingly positive ending and outlook compared to practically any other game in the series outside of that voxel based EDF game.
>>
>>746077910
>It's just that no one listens to the dialogue that illustrates this because they see EDF as a haha funny turn your brain off and shoot bugs game...

There's a reason they delayed the english release of EDF 6 for over a year to get all the VAs from 5. They're integral to the experience.
I don't know how much communication there is between the dubbers and the writers, but I suspect that the captain in the devastated future was an attempt to subvert player expectations using the voice acting.
A lot of the stuff doesn't make sense on it's face. Meaning any experienced players will chock him up to typical EDF goofiness. As the story progresses you start to see that it's actually just a front he puts on to encourage his fellow soldiers. He's well aware of how dire the situation is, but he still firmly has hope that humanity can rise again, despite nearly the entire planet being reduced to a wasteland. His arc concludes when he launches the suicide attack on the ring, little does he know, this desperate, hopeless attack is exactly what buys humanity another chance at winning the war. One man's hope (and Storm 1) literally saves humankind.
There's a lot of subtle stuff like this throughout 6. I gotta get to writing my video essay on this.

EDF plays nothing like Gaylo
It's closer to Serious Sam as it's all about crowd control.

Multi person vehicles need an insane damage boost or need to be auto firing weapons for unused slots. Theirs no point in going in a Titans side gun or a Proteus's gun slot as most classes will have more DPS outside than in.
>>
>>746073991
The weapon customization sounds more explicitly looter shooter-y than before. I imagine this is how the pre-existing weapons will keep up with the increased scale if they don't buff the weapons or add new weapons for whatever comes after endgame Inferno. Hopefully, they will be more sensible to upgrade instead of adding more potential to bloat the green box drop pool with dupes. It would be really silly if they didn't modify the filler dialogue missions of 6 going forward.
>>
Eh? So switch users won't get 6.2? Just regular 6?
>>
>>746079291
I remember that online only mission from 4.1 that had the crazy buff proteus that just lays waste to the ants and queens. Obviously it's too op for a call in but the proteus should really feel like a power weapon.

More like filtered by the seemingly inconsequential bump in the road that sends the vehicle into the fucking stratosphere because high level Grapes and tanks are way faster and handle 100x better than the lower level ones.

I always used a weapon with the worst possible range somehow when I had a drone mission. T'was fucking ASS.

oh
I got 6 on release and only ended up playing for... 14.3 hours.
There's basically no way I am ever touching this. Not because 6 was bad or anything, but my opportunity for couch gaming is limited, and that's essentially the only way I will play. I like coordinating builds and digesting missions in progression.
Already feel like I have way more to do with EDF5 than I would have liked to leave sitting on the table.

NTA but I played the playtest as a diehard fan of Serious Sam.

Biggest fight I can remember was a steady stream of like 40 kleer who have a stupidly easy to dodge leap instead of their usual lunge and were overwhelming. Then 60 kinda generic melee men who weren't overwhelming at all with at most 30 spawned at once I think.

I really hate that Sam and EDF are the only real places I can get my big horde shooter fill and the sam roguelite isn't scratching it. Especially since Shatterverse isn't being made by Croteam and lacks structured fights due to being a roguelite.
EDF 6.2 looks like Sam 4 with the enemy multiplier turned up to 11 though, I wanna see how the hell the weapons will keep up since DLC1+2 on Inferno was really fucking hard.
>>
>>746073115
That would be cool but I hope they give PC and option for those same more enemies on screen boosts

Well, Air Raider gets his air support cut off whenever the plot demands it so it's not like they'd have an issue with doing that for another class
