The issue with Engage's character designs is that they are not cohesive and many of them do not feel like they belong in the same game. A lot of them are actually solid, they just don't fit in with each other and the series as a whole. I think Engage would have sold significantly better and been better received if Alear's hair was a red/blue gradient as opposed to it being half/half, and even better if it were just one color. It made the game hard to take seriously even though Alear, as a character, was actually good.
