Adventure mmo.You can choose to be anything you want. Marine Pirate or Revolutionary.Those are all temporary factions. You can swap between them. Penalty being that you lose all rep when you swap. Devilfruits exist and that is one of the main draws. There is a limited number of them. Each has its own unique skill tree. Permadeath. If you die you lose all your gear and the devilfruit.

>>746073715The issue will always be the island hopping and fact you generally can't go back to visited islands in one piece. Everyone wants an open world action game or rpg but you either have one island just stuffed with every character or you throw out one of the main tenets of the franchise.

Everyone either has a handful of eternal log pose or vivre cards to get around. The marines even have special coatings on their ships that let them pass through the calm belt. So they just go anywhere they want at any time. Its kind of like Skies of Arkadia where you eventually get upgrades that let you bypass cloud walls.

For one, the four blues don't have that problem, it's only the Grand Line. But even in the Grand Line, there's always solutions: Eternal Poses, systems like the Sea Train, talking to fish, trading your pose for a new arrival's pose so they don't have to wait on the island as long and you can just follow theirs in reverse, or just winging it like Luffy and Wapol did to find Drum. People in the New World also do not act like navigating is an issue at all since so much of it is controlled by Yonkou and they have ways to keep in touch.
