if you're playing the remaster open I think it's called the Book of Shadows and view the upgrades and map and kind of get an idea of where to go
there was and update so when you use the bear to teleport they list what you should be doing in each area
you really need to rely on voodoo weapons in one hand your shadowgun in the other to have fun
the best way i'd describe what to do is
>find dark souls
>open gates
>find upgrades available
>repeat 1-3 until you can find a retractor and go to the cathedral of pain to fight a boss

yeah and unless you're a fan of this game it's a hard recommend. it might be something you may want to check out after this depending on how you feel, as a game it's rougher than this imo. but if you do I'd say check it out, emulate it of course
