Well I’m only in Act 1 so I can’t speak for the rest of it but the game is dense as fuck, the world isn’t huge so far but it’s deep it really feels like I go to look at something and all of the sudden I’m pulled away for 5 hours with no clue what’s going on. The combat has a ton of randomness for replayability and as far as I can tell so far the story and general dialogue also have a lot of randomness but I could be wrong if I ever do a replay. So far the only shit that isn’t random as far as I can tell is the companion shit, although it seems it depends on who you keep in your party really. Learning about their backstories is fairly interesting, but they do force the sex shit a little much but it really just makes me laugh. I use Gale in my party and have been interested in his story, then I had a dialogue with him at camp. I went to talk to him and he was doing some magic shit, I thought it was cool and he started to teach me. I thought I’d get some backstory, or maybe a unique spell or really anything but then all it led to was the possibility of a gay encounter it was annoying, but it was funny that they went for that.

...However sometimes it feels like BG3 wants you to just use cheese. And its very easy to cheese stuff. Also forced "surprise" encounters fucking suck I love attacking hidden enemy first and getting surprised despite knowing full well there are enemies there.
In general BG3 has flaws in the way of death by thousand paper cuts. The small things pile up from writing to pacing to story focus changing to RPG mechanics being strange to your custom char being non-character with no goals without donut steel partymembers to your minor choices not changing much stuff. I'm not autistic or dedicated enough to beat games on hardcore/perma death modes so I generally ignored Honor mode but yes the basis game even on tactician is just insultingly easy and involves spamming death zone aoe combos in entrances/choke points which completely nullify enemy AI. Also I have to play on custom because fuck having to pay 4x extra for vendor items and getting nothing for your items on tactician.
Also it's a typical Larian polish which peaks at the start of the game, reaches a fun conclusion in the middle of it and then feels like a boring hog at the end of it. I loathe 3rd act in this game.

When I played honor mode with my friend, the encounters felt borderline unbeatable the normal way when you have global 65% hit rate on melee and range attacks while enemy has almost 100% and fucking insane skills and stats where they murder you in few turns.
On classic it feels like steamroll easily. And if you make monk+ Rouge level 3 a la thief with bonus action, then the game becomes just slight test of patience.
I don't mind cheese by itself but when it becomes way too optimal, easier, and faster compared to more normal combat I start hating it.
Also you can always steal your money back from Wither when you res and respec your characters so honor mode means nothing as long as you have few hundred coins and can escape with at least one of your characters(Also you can respec everyone as a thief to pickpocket everyone).
Also also, on latest playthrough I misclicked on detect thoughts on one of the tieflings practicing swordfighting rather than encouraging them with char specific class based shit. I failed the roll by one and everyone attacked and started to fight to the death just because I failed to detect thoughts. Its Skyrim-tier AI where I couldn't just throw my hands in the air and ask them to arrest me instead. They legit thought that this is worth killing and dying for. Actually in Skyrim you can put your weapon away and the guards jail you. In BG3, the random merchant is willing to die because you tried to detect thoughts to encourage some guy to get over his fears, a guy he barely knows.

Halsin can be killed, unless you want to save a certain region which you will NEVER return to so it's actually completely pointless. Minthara also is pointless.

There was a mod on RPGHQ to replace her voice with an AI version that's prettier and younger, but the modder was lazy and the voice cracks up and squeaks whenever Minthara's voice gets gravelly, which happens a lot.

Honestly her voice actress isn't bad. After her sex/romance scene she speaks softly to you and her voice and tone is so beautiful when she's allowed to sound like a woman. I think Larian screwed her in voice direction, if there was any.

Night with the Drow is how you can have her sex scene while doing a good guy run. She reacts as if you were romantic when you rescue her from Moonrise, too, like how she was hoping you would come for her. That's cool. No mods to give her a scene for the Durge resist moment, though, and nothing to flesh her out in Act 3. But at least she will look far better.

my honor mode was MC as. half orc monk, tavern brawler feat, and stunning palmed every big bad monster. stunlocking avatar of myrkul was easy af.

had a battlemaster fighter astarion, life domain cleric minthara, sorc shadowheart.

hired 4 companions from withers and left them in camp. had a wizard built exclusively for getting extra potions (wizard, rogue, and bard levels to max medicine skill),

had two wizard clerics in camp that cast warding bond on my mc and fighter, healed them between encounters, and a bard maxd for buying and selling. never struggled for money, potions, or healing

once you hit level 6 the game is a cakewalk in honor mode.

I think the part that sticks with me the most is in act 1 underdark. I was exploring that wizards tower that was trapped but awfully quiet. I sent my ranger (with stealth) in, I forget if I was using the anti magic flower or whatever. Ascended to the top floor. Picked the wrong dialogue with the robots and was gonna get raped and used featherfall to escape by jumping off, and then reunited with my party.

Its actually so kino you can use that and jump down the pit to even enter the underdark. The special cursed book with the gem and getting dance macabre or whatever.

Instead of just dialogue and the bare minimums of spells and equipment that are in the players handbook, they crafted unique mechanics all throughout the game to make it fun and enjoyable. I tore through that golem in the forge because all my guys had hammers for that blunt damage.

And chucking corpses or spears from high spots was fun as hell
