It's kind of primitive how CRPGs became all about "camp scenes." Tech became more advanced but in doing so they can't portray anything happening outside of designated camp pocket planes (too many variables to take into account). in older RPGs they talked to each other anywhere on the map.

Theres also instances where the party gets randomly attacked or has some special event and they and the player comment on that too. Dragon Age: Origins is 27 year old game and I know shitposting here 24/7 is “fun” but seriously just play the damn game before making ignorant comments.
