>A Nintendo fan has been left devastated after thieves stole more than 860 NES games he had spent almost 40 years collecting – just three games short of completing the entire library.

>Roger Holler, from Puyallup, Washington, began collecting Nintendo games as a child after his mother bought him his first NES when he was 11 years old.

>Over the years, he added to the collection by picking up more games at stores and by attending gaming conventions, with the collection valued between $50,000 and $100,000 at the time it was stolen.

>Speaking to KING 5, Holler said the sight of the empty shelves following the break-in has been difficult to deal with.

>“I shake, I get headaches,” he said, adding that he now wants to remove the shelf entirely because he knows what used to be there.

Your computer can also be stolen. In fact your computer is probably already stolen and you don't realize it.

Man, that sucks. I hope he had some insurance on it at least, though it obviously wasn't about the price for that guy. Unless this does turn out to be insurance fraud.
Seattle's such a shithole now.

This is honestly a huge fear of mine and I only value my physical game collection at about 3k-4k USD

His problem was that he had it on full display in his living room. Never do that, keep your collection squirreled away from prying eyes. 1. Have it on full display and probably gloating about it online and with friends

Live in a rural, low crime area you retard

I don't even lock my doors at night because everyone on my street is white and owns at least 2 firearms. I know all of my neighbors, most people have dogs. I have a fence and a gate and I don't think there's been a robbery in my neighborhood in over 10 years.
Live around white people. As long as you're not in some incredibly low income area filled with methheads, you will be completely safe in some redneck area filled with armed hillbillies.

Reality:

You need to live in a secluded, all white, middle income neighborhood to be completely safe. High income starts to become a magnet for roaming junkies and niggers from out of town as I've had the misfortune of finding out.

>>746099620
Burglary, not Robbery. There's 750,000 burglaries per year in the USA. That doesn't include fires, flooding, tornadoes, etc.

There have been zero irrecoverably lost steam accounts. You can always get your account back.

>>746101674

Collectors will buy them and drive the price up. That said if the thief is too old he may wind up selling them for a small amount because "a lot of money" is really ambiguous.

>for a while

No. Just documentation of their existence. Like pictures of everything, making sure to list them when filling for insurance because anything that valueable needs to be declared.

>>
>>746102440
Only physical things worth having are inherently physical, such as original paintings, figures, lego, plushies. Mass produced media that's only meant to hold information is completely meaningless, including books unless they were hand written. What matters is what data they contain, I put no value on what's holding that data.

So I brought over my SNES and we played it. I trust him, so I just left it there. Apparently he was also hanging out with the wrong crowd again, and someone stole my SNES with like Earthbound and all the expensive games. Looking back, I kinda new better than to leave the SNES there, but I was trying to "save" my bro. He didn't really wanna be saved though, because not long after that he was doing dozens of bars a day, inviting me over to what had basically become a trap house, and not even remembering whether or not I showed up.

From the looks of it it seems like cerebral palsy. I had one guy at my school who had it, his motoric skills were fucked up, his walking stride was very weird, it was like combination of limping with overextending certain movements. I still remember people being weirded out coming to know that there's a normal person inside just like us and he had no mental retardation of any kind, it was just his movement that was super weird. The girl in the webm reminds me of his symptoms a lot.

Doesn't YGO have a few orders of magnitude more """"""ridiculously expensive""" cards than MTG or the like and deckbox stealing is a real problem in tourneys?
>>
>>746107190
Lol no
It'd probably cost you more in gas money to travel to a YGO tournament then you'd get selling someone's deck.
Unlike most card games, yugioh cards value tends to depreciate quickly because konami has a decent reprint policy.

Meanwhile I dumped 3 boxes of videogames at the recycling centre.

The expensive cards that see play get reprinted. What you heard about were probably first edition shiny cards, or cards exclusive to some rare event.

Been a while but I think it was something like that, yes. How the first place in big events wins exclusive cards that supposedly can fetch ridiculous sums.

What's the point of collecting NES games when you can literally download every game in the library probably under 1 GB and play them for free
>>
>>746108119
>that supposedly can fetch ridiculous sums.
Last year Jesse Kotton won a big tournament and then posted posted on twitter that he was leaving his prize on the table for anyone to pick up lol.
They have no value. Yugioh is a game where there are no true collectors. If you like yugioh, its usually to play it and paradoxily, most prize cards are vanilla monsters with no effects.
I can literally pull up one of the yugioh prize cards right now on ebay. I'm seeing listings as low as 80$. That is pathetic for a prize card.

i can see keeping your own ones you had as a kid for nostalgia sake...but to go out and buy 'new to you' copies just to put on a shelf is gay/mentally ill. unless it's to flip later for profit

Yeah. Just have plenty of information and evidence, plus the RIGHT insurance. Also, if you've been insured for at least a year, that helps drastically.
He probably grew up, realized he was sitting on a bunch of garbage and had a friend steal it all away to make himself a nice hundred grand.

I'm not American. Was it ever a decent place? All I know about it is that grunge artists were from Seattle and we all know how most of them ended up
