I've been running a Legion laptop with nvidia with Fedora for like 7 years.
It's fine. And I think they made it eaven easier, on modern versions, You probably just enable these and type nvidya in the search bar.
Back in my day we had to search for the pci device and to set it's driver in the console.

Seconding bazzite, I used it for about a year and it was really good. The only reason I switched back to Windows is modding is a bit of a pain in the ass on Linux, especially for older games. Like the whole Mass Effect modding community is built on a decade-old tool that only works for Windows, and with FFXIV if you want to use Textools that again can only be done on Windows. If you're not modding games from the early 2010s then I'd say bazzite is probably better.

As I understand it, ME3Tweaks literally only works with Windows and they have no plans to add any sort of Linux support. This really does seem to be a problem exclusive to older games, though. For example, with Baldur's Gate 3 you can get the script extender tool to work really easily via proton. Cyberpunk is also really easy to mod.
