Now that the dust has settled, was VR always just a meme?
>>746105979Good meme, best things I played in years. Probably won't get steam frame. It's an entry level headset.
>>746105979VR became a meme after Alyx flopped. Same will happen with flat games if GTA6 flops. Investors got the ick and it all died
>>746106329>Alyx flopped.it was a free game included with the Index. The other headsets at the time didn't have the amount of buttons or control features to run it correctly at launch. It was a tech demo for controllers.
>>746105979nah VR is fun. getting good enough performance to not be vomit-inducing while still serving good visuals is just too expensive for the average gamer, and too many lards out there who can afford it are afraid of anything that resembles exercise.
>>746105979>was VR always just a meme? At present it is. I had a quest 2 and it felt very cool at the start but it wears off fast. These things are not comfortable to wear for long. There are very few games and even less that are actually worth your time. Nobody who isn't bought by Meta wants to develop for it because there isn't a playerbase, so the game situation is unlikely to change soon. The technology needs to get better for it to be worth it, but thats not going to happen quickly because there isn't any money in it yet. Even Meta has pivoted to AI because it wasn't working out for them, though it didn't help that not even their employees wanted to use the shitty metaverse app they were trying to make. The only hope is what Steam is doing because Gaben can afford to keep developing VR out of his own interest. I hope they figure it out eventually, I would like to see VR get better but it fucking sucks now.
