is this the most overhyped shit game from balding millennials? Its a real stinky one and I find it funny when people say that it's better than skyrim LOL
>>
>>746108760
You had to be there lil bro
>>
>>746108760
you missed out
>>
wait till you play morrowind its even worse
>>
>>746108962
morrowind is way better
>>
>>746108962
I had the awkward teenage phase where I thought Morrowind was better than Oblivion...
>>
>>746108760
>is this the most overhyped shit game from balding millennials?
It was popular when it came out but for the past 5-10 years most comments I see online about it are shitting on it so I wouldn't call it overhyped at this point. I put hundreds of hours into it and had a lot of fun desu
>>
>>746108760
Why don't you post about games you like rather than games you missed by 20 years
>>
It was great when it came out but it's the definition of hasn't aged well.
>>
>>746108760
It's called emotional memory. You will also have it when you grow older and feel nostalgic about whatever it is that zoomers and gen alpha plays.
Whatever slop it is or was, it will be the best game in your own mind and memory, and yet, the newer generations will shit on it.
>>
>>746108942
Oh yea, just like how i missed out on getting scammed by blizzard with WOW, boomers are so delusioal thease days man...
>>
>>746111323
I believe even kids can recognize slop to a degree.
Ever played a game in your youth that you loathed and still dislike to this day?
>>
>>746111782
Well, to be fair yes. And yeah I agree, they can more or less differentiate a good from a bad game, but even if the game is not that good on the optics of modern audiences, you gotta take into consideration the time it was made.
Oblivion was pretty good for its time, so it's not nonsensical that people will have good emotional memories related to it.
>>
>>746108760
????
its widely regarded as the worst "modern" TES game
>>
>>746112126
>Oblivion was pretty good for its time
>pretty good
It fucking blew my socks off, never to be found
>>
>>746108760
it's definitely a "you had to be there" game

i played this when it came out in the lowest settings and lowest resolution and still enjoyed it back then

replayed the game maybe 7 years ago and compared to morrowind or even skyrim, it's just a bad game
>>
>>746112535
Same. I played the base game so much, and the mods just made things 100x better.
Some things never change. I imagine (or hope) the new one will be the same.
>>
>another TES hate thread
is this the only way you can farm (You)s? pathetic

The quests are miles better than anything in Skyrim, but the rest has to be fixed with mods. But you can't fix the quests in Skyrim with mods, so there's that
>>
>>746113307
I already know I'll love 6 just the same as 3, 4, and 5.
>>
>>746108760
>imagine being a zoomer or younger
I feel bad for you
>>
>>746108760
Honestly, find me a more lively npcs than Oblivion. I'll wait.
>>
>>746108760
Probably, in the sense that only people that have nostalgia for it care about it. People genuinely care about Morrowind and Skyrim, but Oblivion is just kinda... there. Even the remaster was forgotten about a xou months after release. Oblivion is neither narratively interesting nor does it feature a world and lore that stays with people and prompts discussion unlike its immediate predecessor and successor.

Once you figure out how to have absurdly OP builds based on -mgic resist (even if melee-based) and you just crank the difficulty slider way up it became a lot more fun. You just die in 2-3 hits, but and kill everything in like 4-5.
No matter what mods I've tried in Skyrim everything is always so weak relative to you it's mind-numbing.
The original voicelines and facial expressions in Oblivion never get old either lmao
Morrowind may have a better storyline but I could never get into that game at all because of everything else, Daggerfall was much more fun to sink a playthrough on.
>>
>>746108760
It's a bit better than Skyrim yeah
>>
>>746108760
morrowind is
oblivion is the second one
>>
>>746121812
I will say even when you factor in reach thry did a horrible job balancing 2-handed weapons or even the slower 1-handed ones. It feels like they just had those values as placeholders and then just completely forgot to ever test/change them.

Yeah, I sure wonder why people forgot about the remaster
>>
>>746121812
There's also a few combat overhaul mods, including at least one that adds dismemberment. I remember challenging a dungeon above my level and getting my head cut off by some high-level enemy. Had to come back later to get my revenge
>>
>>746122787
Top looks better by a mile
>>
>>746122787
it doesn't help that even the game mechanics are worse
>>
>>746122787
you zoomer larpers are faux-longing for bottom pic even though the first thing everyone did is set grass distance to higher via .ini because vanilla looks like aboslute dog feces
>>
>>746108760
do zoomers have any games that are even close to being good?
>>
>>746126156
>set grass distance higher
I turned it off because my PC couldn't handle Oblivion back then. Later I got the lowpoly grass mod.

Recently played the remaster
>Awful Dungeon Design
>Awful Combat where your just slapping air
>Awful Leveling System (the most efficient way to level most skill is to do something extremely tedious like sneaking against a wall near a sleeping person FOR HOURS)
>You get weaker as you level up, you are unironically at peak power at lvl 3
>6 reused dungeon templates across 200 dungeons
The only 2 things I enjoyed were the Dark Brotherhood Questline and the Shivering Isle
>>746126681
Skyrim

Sorry about your partial blindness

>>746125854
Wouldn't know, I'm not buying it

>>746126156
No, the first thing we did back in 2006 was download a mod to fix the stupid leveling system. After that it was usually graphical tweaks and texture mods, though grass popping in wasn't as bad as the LoD situation. Still, no amount of visual tweaks can ever save the remaster
>>
>>746127481
>No, the first thing we did back in 2006 was download a mod to fix the stupid leveling system.
zoomer larper detected, there was no such mod

>no amount of visual tweaks can ever save the remaster
The remaster is superior in every possible way
>>
>>746127463
Skyrim actually has a very similar problem where the enemies are insane damage sponges on Master & Legendary. in Oblivion if you keep the difficulty slider near the center it's not that hard, but the further you go to the right the more impossible it gets.
>>
>>746128171
Nexus has turned to shit, but here's one example that was uploaded in 2006: https://www.nexusmods.com/oblivion/mods/3392

But hey, no reason to be mad. You seem to like modern-day AAA slop, so I guess you're happy with the current state of the industry. Let those of us who aren't have our fun elsewhere
>>
>>746127481
>No, the first thing we did back in 2006 was download a mod to fix the stupid leveling system.
Did you do the same for Morrowind?
>>
>>746129192
I remember that mod. I wasn't really a thing or popular in '06, had its minute of fame in like '07 early '08 before Oscuro's becoming the go to by
>>
>>746129658
No, I hadn't played Morrowind back then. When I finally got around to it, many years later, I had a different view on it

>>746130271
I don't think it's the one I was using either, which I think was called Natural Leveling or something. I'll have to see if I can hunt down my old mods, they should be backed up somewhere. Haven't played Oblivion for like 5-6 years now
>>
>>746130714
I remember there was a whole suite of "natural" mods in the early-ish days, including vegetation, weather etc, etc
>>
>>746131249
I don't think there was a single aspect of Oblivion that wasn't modded extensively. I still find it funny that the Harvest mods were so popular they're basically the reason why all Beth games post-Oblivion have different visual states for looted containers
>>
>>746108760
The quest are in fact a lot better but mechanically it has more depth witch makes leveling in it more difficult. I wouldn't call it better then skyrim though because most that mechanical depth can ignored without losing anything.
>>
>>746131625
yea i remember, i wish I backed up my various modloads over the years. But, having said that, the Remaster includes most of these basic immersion changes. You really should give it a try.
Even though it doesn't reach the heights of custom houses and overworld/cooking/jobs fully modded vanilla.
I haven't kept up with the modding scene since last year,(full time job) I hope it developed nicely since then.
>>
>>746132216
Skyrim has more mechanical depth than Oblivion and Morrowind.
>>
>>746108760
You should of posted Morrowind too, Talk about overhyped.
>>
>>746108760
It's objectively better than Skyrim, you just have nostalgia for the latter because you're a stupid zoomer that played it as a kid.

Mid 90s boomer here. I loved Oblivion as a child on the 360. I got 950/1000 gamerscore back in the day sadly the last Thieves Guild quest got bugged and wouldn't trigger. I need to replay it.

The only good thing about oblivion was Mankar camorans writing.
Morrowind was a better written rpg
Skyrim plays wayy better
