I don't get it. If he dies the world is real? What kind of moral is that? If he wins it's just a gay and fake dream? Why are nip writers like that?
This game was a fever dream to me. Ludo narrative, I guess.
It's just a weird game. The 360 was so starved for rpgs we just ate what we could.
everyone who played this never shut the fuck up about it at the time was it a launch title or something? peak shillshit
>>746119363it was deep homokino
>>746119140More like Judo narrative. LMAO!
I mean, Expedition 33 basically did a very pretentious version of the same thing and was lauded for it. Remember who the protag is in this game, he's literally a great musician and composer in this real world. This is one rare time that the EN name was more appropriate than the Japanese one (Trusty Bell) because the composer is perhaps most famous for a Sonata in the real world, and metaphorically he was creating another work of art in the..we'll call it 'dream' realm, an 'eternal sonata". That said, this was a trippy game from the era when the X360 was a JRPG machine, when Lost Odyssey, Blue Dragon and others showed up and people really though the Xbro BAWKS HEUG somehow became a JRPG machine and generally won the generation (despite the PS3 having some great one off games - MGS4, Valkyria Chronicles, and that JRPG with the guns that's name is eluding me, but later came out on PC with the JP name). Anyway, I think the PS3 version of this actually had more content and an expansion or something but its been awhile since I looked it up
>>746120181For those who don't know, the protag is not JRPG Hero #1, or Alice In Wonderland But Red, but the guy in the top hat sitting at the piano.
>>746118240Doesn't this game has a pc port/recomp?Of all xbox games, lel.
>>746120181The PS3 version changed the story. The main villain in the 360 version just unceremoniously dies before the final dungeon.
>>746121407Yeah I just looked it up. It had massive overhauls, and even the JP name for it became>Trusty Bell: Chopin's Dream Reprise with new characters, story shit and all kinds of other stuff besides just mechanics, a challenge dungeon and more. >>746121008At this point no, but it likely can be played without issue on RPCS3 to get the best experience so far. I'd love if Namco could release a remastered and overhauled version for PC on Steam though to have all the PS3 stuff and more
>>746118240chopin dreams of a little girl like his kid sister that died an early death - polkathe place where he meets her is where the dream begins. the world his not-sister lives in is tied to his life. he begins having a literal fever dream in his deathbed about a girl that looks like his sister and the world she lives inthroughout the journey, where everything is named after music stuff, he realizes that he is dying, that he is in a dream, that it is HIS dream, and that if he dies in reality the dream dies tooso he turns on the party so that they have a chance to kill him in the dream, sever the dream from being tied to his fate, death, and so that they can live on after he diesif he killed them then their world died with him>what kind of moral is thati dunno, that reality and imagination are both powerful things that feed off each other?
>>746123023>if the dream kills you first it survives
>>746118240Steam release when
I really liked it, I remember that archer carrying me through the entire game.
>>746124642for me it was it jazz falsetto and salsa
>>746118240It's a metaphor for growing up and putting aside you boyish toys and nintendo games.
>>746125880by fucking killing yourself?
>>746118240I remember I dropped the game near the end when the game had the funny idea to scramble your inputs every turnAnd I remember the fucking goat farmer being the best character by a ludicrous margin.
>>746126343Actually this is a better metaphor than it looks at first glance. Because if you don't exit the hobby entirely, you'll just cause harm to it. You'll become bitter and complain about things that aren't relevant, and ruin experiences for others because such childish things are, predictably, no longer satisfying.
>>746127207that sounds like tranny talk
>>746125880>>746127207Imagine going online just to post contrarian takes
>>746127207hahahahaha...haha!
I want this but with David Foster Wallace instead of Chopin
>>746126343Figuratively speaking, yes.
>>746126349The Goat Farmer is Viola. Before Encore(New Game+):The best character in the 360 version is Falsetto by a long shot, with Viola and Salsa fighting for 2nd(partly thanks to sheer speed). In Encore, Chains are the best thing to use and Viola is notoriously bad with them compared to others until very late. Encore also provides Allegretto a weapon strong enough to make him a better third member of your final team than Viola. March is stupid strong but a bit slow.In the PS3 version, Viola went from speedster to second slowest but her sniping became way more powerful. She's both better and worse.Encore is worse for her now thanks to Chains and speed.
