It not being on PSP / handheld hurts the flow a little.
It's mostly meant to be picked up and played, do a few missions and stop, so the flow of the game is weird on Console / PC. You'll understand when playing.

in MGS4 the patriots' influence over world order has created a circumstance where PMCs can sell arms/soldiers to fight in forever wars in divided third world countries to extract as much capital from them as possible. PMCs are allowed to stoke and exploit division in the populations of backwater countries and then sell them the cure, completely unrestrained, because first world countries are either apathetic or support it as a genuine business model (as seen in the tv ads at the start of the game). its a pretty clear parallel to how the GWOT was going at the time but taken to its absolute extreme. its also thematic being zero's ultimate interpretation of the boss' will in MGS3.
not a fan of MGS4 either, though. its too fan service-y and tied up ends that were pretty obviously meant to stay up to interpretation.
