Weapons will be the gacha. Hoyo gacha already have it split between gacha banners for characters and another gacha banner for their best equipment piece.

For ESL who don't understand nuance, this implies specific characters will be worked towards, likely warframe style grinding. You can expect all the same bullshit rng and pay2win, just not for rotating character releases. Likely most outfits will be pay2win entirely.

Balance aside, older beloved characters stop appearing in the story as new ones take their place and it stops making sense. Plus the powercreep. Removing character gacha and letting people swipe for weapons or outfits probably makes things easier from a game dev standpoint even though it probably won't make as much money.
