>>
>>746461154
That's easy since DBFZ had delay netcode

I'm talking beyond the netcode, the character balance and game mechanics weren't the best. Guard cancel was essentially useless and assist cool downs allowed for infinite block strings with no gaps to reflect for example.

>>746464696
i would love a Jump FighterZ game. i made a mock-up wishlist for it, too, using the same template. there's no way they could've made a Jump game with a 21 character launch roster though. every series needs at least like 3 or 4 rep slots and they'd probably wanna represent like 10 series minimum.

>>746465113
i also understand this sentiment, though. from what i'm seeing online it sounds like Tōkon could use some balance/mechanical adjustments. so just changing it to a Jump game wouldn't necessarily make it better.
>>
I really hate how City of the Wolves updated the colour edit mode. Why the fuck did they replace the image thumbnails with totally useless little circles?
It's impossible to see your colour previews now, shit sucks.
>>
>>746465296
Based. If a Jump game existed though I would really want to see some goofy characters like Senku Ishigami and some slightly more niche picks like Medaka and Kumagawa which is why I liked the J-Stars and JUS rosters over Jump Force.
>>
>>746465296
>every series needs at least like 3 or 4 rep slots
Hell no, it's more fun if they just do a bunch of weird picks from a lot of different series and then make up some crossover bullshit explanation for why they specifically showed up. Kind of like Tokon did. It'd be fun seeing something like Gyro with Dio or even Gyro by himself thrown into the mix with a bunch of literally whos vs 5 characters each from their most popular shit
>>
>>746465570
oh yeah, absolutely. that's part of why i say they'd wanna include a bunch of different series. even if some series only get one rep. that's what they've done in the past.

>>746465646
that's fair. i was thinking more that the bigger series could use several rep slots. more niche series could definitely get away with just a rep or two. i do prefer when they stick to popular characters from each series, though, as opposed to like... putting Fat Buu in Jump Force instead of a DBS character. or putting Minetta in as an MHA rep. lol
>>
>>746465335
I played COTW with this mod if chun in a her SF 6 bikini but mods got nuked now with season 3 and modders have to recreate everything from scratch, no desire to olay until that gets added to the game again
>>
>>746465296
The issue of a Jump fighter is that everyone expects their favorite generations of Jump manga to get representation, treating it as a nostalgia fighter. In actuality they would want to promote their current stuff the most, no sense promoting stuff that ended a long time ago or wasting too many picks on old franchises. Half of your list would instead be stuff like Ichi the Witch, Kagurabachi, JJK, Sakamoto Days, etc. Like, they had a MOBA that was recently shutdown and it had no Jojo characters, but it did have Undead Unluck and Mashle since that's what Jump wanted to promote at the time.
>>
jump fighter but 1v1
designed by GGIs avatar team and animated by a japanese studio
>>
>>746466360
you make a good point. i had to remind myself after finishing that mock-up that i make the game sound fun for myself when i get to pick the roster, but i don't actually know what Jump is pushing rn or who they would let ArcSys pick from. so i could end up even more disappointed with the Jump FighterZ roster than i am with Tōkon's.
>>
Alright bros who should I play in Centralfiction? I'm getting sick of Azrael because it feels like he relies so hard on his marks

>>
>>746467319
Why would you play that garbage in the first place?
>>
>>746466360
It's tradition for this kind of shit to represent past and present though. They can and would do both, 100% fucking guaranteed.
No "jump fighter" game would neglect the classic franchises or neglect the current ones.
>>
>>746467436
I know, but anon basically only posted past characters as his whole roster, not present. That's why I said
>Half of your list
Plus, I think Jojo for example being no longer a Jump title is probably why it wasn't in the MOBA, and why it probably wouldn't be in a Jump fighting game
>>
>>746467436
agreed. DBZ, Naruto/Boruto, Bleach, and One Piece are all still relevant. Demon Slayer is still airing, MHA just ended. i don't think any of those would get shafted. i'm just outta touch with what new series they'd wanna represent. JJK i'm aware of but i haven't really watched it so i don't know what characters are likely to appear in a Jump Fighter.
>>
>>746467596
i wasn't aware JoJo's is no longer part of Jump. damn. does that really mean no more JoJo's in Jump crossover games? having your last appearence in fucking Jump Force is brutal. ;-;
>>
>>746467719
I looked it up, it's at Ultra Jump, not Weekly Shonen Jump. Still Jump, still could appear. So it's weird it didn't.
>>
>>746466657
>animated by a japanese studio
It's funny to me that the country famous for anime crunch and quality has completely abandoned hand drawn sprites for fighting games. They're probably scared of raising the bar that high.
>>
>>746466657
i don't want any Japanese studio to do it other than ArcSys because i fear they'd just ape Capcom or Namco and we'd end up with another game that looks like Jump Force.
>>
>>746467610

>Kagaurabachi
>JJK

>>
>>746467596

The move to Ultra Jump only really kills the the chance of seeing someone from Part 7 onward. Jotaro and Dio have near perfect attendance aside from J-Stars having Jonathan and Joseph instead.
>>
>>746468225
I was debating it but i don't see why not. Jump+ has been consistently better than WSJ for a while imo.

Pad, Fightstick, Leverless, Keyboard.
- What controller do you use?
- What games do you play?

- Pad
- SF6, Strive, DBFZ, GBVSR and Marvel Tokon

I'm considering leverless for Tekken 8 tho, it seems pretty busted.
>>
>>746469932
Honestly don't know how people can stomach pad for fighters, it feels awful. My best feel with it was DBFZ, but even that felt bad enough to go back to stick. Not sure how leverless would feel, I haven't bit that bullet yet.

Fightstick is fun but it's terrible health-wise and for ergonomy.
Leverless is nice but it may be annoying to rebuild your memory around the movements. It also has obvious cons like 720. Yeah sure, you'll upload a standing 720 on leverless and tell how easy it is.
Now do it in a real match, it's not the same anymore. Even pros struggle with it.
>>
>>746470348
I'm glad I'm not the only one that struggles with leverless 720s. I gave up trying to learn Gief because of it
>>

But man when you GET IT... holy shit everyone will hate you with your instant 720s and be all "this is why we need to ban leveless"

>But man when you GET IT... holy shit everyone will hate you with your instant 720s and be all "this is why we need to ban leveless"
Yeah and that'll actually happen.
You trained to master 720 on leverless?
Aight, your opponnents will just ask for nerf. Your shortcuts? None. Your advantages on leverless? None.
So in the end, you'll play on leverless with regular commands which... you can do on Pad and use thumbstick for shenanigans.
What's the result? Pad ends up being the best controller.
>>
>Played against a competent Tao.
It's embarassing when a mirror styles on you with mix-ups and combos you can't do.
I think I've reached the point of having to actually learn the harder combos, my lack of damage is getting harder to ignore.

I'm hard committing to leverless at this point. Still have to practice double QCBs more but I'm getting there.
I had one of my biggest, "oh yeah, this thing is fucking cheating" moments when playing Avatar earlier. Because of how Korra's chain dashes work I can mash forward and immediately switch to down back, and I know it would be way harder to approach if I was on pad or stick. I can't dodge the cheatbox allegations this time.
>>
>>746473691
Reverse TKs are still the most annoying thing to do on leverless even after years of playing on one. It feels so much worse than stick.

crazy thing is all the branded k-levers are genuinely good and unique

the knee levers are so good but in-truth they are just slightly modified alpha 49s, which you can buy at a much cheaper price so i'd suggest you go with that

another common starting point is the taeyoung fanta, which is a classic

if you want to jump straight into the rabbit hole, then try to hunt for sanjuk levers, they are hard to obtain but well worth it from what i've heard, i never managed to get one

also most korean levers have replaceable tops so you can switch out whatever

I tried avoiding that. I thought it would play more like a series of short mini-games. I also wanted to tell the player FG tips in a quiet way. For example, the blocking minigame teaches the player low block first so that they would view it as the default block.

I structured the tutorial in a way that it would feature mechanics that were taught in the previous lessons. The first lesson is about attacking, so the second lesson teaches how to defend yourself from the attack that you were doing in the first lesson. The third lesson teaches how to counter blocking that was taught in the second lesson. The fourth lesson features both blocking and attacking and the final lesson asks the player to use all of it in a real CPU battle.
>>
>>746475924
Your tutorial offers nothing every other game doesn't already do
There's no tutorial about mindgames, watching the opponent, learning habits, exploiting whiffs, etc
Fighting game tutorials are usually
>press the punch button to attack!
>do a quarter circle to do a special move!
>well done, that's it
>>
>>746475924
sure sure, I can see it, nothing wrong with your specific implementation, I'm just wondering if its' actually effective at all for actual newcomers

for that, i think you should go ask outside of threads like this because we are all experienced in some ways

Now how big is the base roster compared to every single launch game? How much do you need to pay to get SF6 or Strive even close to the same roster sizer?
>>
>>746476128
it has a tournament series and is getting a patch soon on top of having crossplay/rollback. also being added to gamepass
>>
>>746476028
I feel like that's too advanced for a beginner tutorial. It would require way more text than my current tutorial to properly teach all of that. Although I think I could add a phase in the second lesson to teach the player about block punishes and block advantage.

>but I do truly think no FG has figured out how to properly tutorialize players yet
Have a good single player where you slowly unlock moves and abilities you're gonna use in multiplayer, so you learn bit by bit doing something fun instead of a boring lecture. Like for example, imagine such a tutorial for a game like SF6. You'd start without drive meter, or with just one bar, and have to unlock more. You'd also start with few special moves. Your very first fight would only teach base stuff like blocking and pressing buttons, then you'd fight NPCs for a bit. Only after being used to doing the basics you'd start unlocking more moves, more complex movesets and being able to do more stuff with drive. Maybe make flying enemies hitting you from above, to teach you anti-airs, stuff like that. Oh wait, I described World Tour. Turns out SF6 is popular for a reason

not even people who play fighting games play vf5 my brother, there's a reason why tekken 8 is still the only active 3d series, and no your high budget yakuzaslop won't make any wave

>>746476325
World Tour is boring as sin and the open world is genuinely the worst one i've ever played
>>
>>746476325
SF6 has both World Tour and a normal tutorial mode. I think it's important to have a single player mode and a short tutorial for people who want to get online as quickly as possible.

do you play stick with a LEGO bricktop instead of a balltop? wtf
fun fact: there's a smash stick with an analog lever that was designed because pro players were injuring themselves playing gamecube pad. Probably ungodly amount of hours.
I've said this before but a college nerd should really do a study for all these controller options and see which ones fall under least ergonomic. But I doubt stick would.

I imagine anything like a keyboard, stick or a hitbox would be bad for extended periods due to your shoulder position being internally rotated. Pad is better here. But I'm curious about wrists. Gamecube controllers don't really apply because smashers use claw grips a lot of the time, among other weird grips.

>I want artificial difficulty back!
Monetization has changed. The games were hard so arcade owners could get more out of owning multiple cabinets with the game hardware. The harder the game the more the player has to spend money to learn the game. Shmups are by far the easiest example of artifical difficulty realizing itself as soon as reach the second stage in all of them. You put your quarter in and you're allowed to have fun for one stage. While fighting games are more on the pay to win side. The more money you spend the more time you are allowed to learn the game and once you learn the game you'll spend less money since no one will be able to beat you until they themselves spend as much money learning the game.

Since there's no use for that anymore fighting games monetization has changed to a Live Service model. The game itself is simple. Players stay for the additional content.
