It's a 10/10 game when you're playing it at 1am on a Saturday on the PC in 2001, there I can understand it.

Overall though the game is a 7.5/10. Really the only time the game is interesting is in the prison dungeons where you have to utilise the lighting and field of view and it's the the game actually feels like it's presenting choices and tension to you.

If you look at areas like fucking Maggot Lair though, my goodness.

it was one of the greatest games ever made back at 1.10, they ruined the game with 1.11 and 1.12 so badly that a thousand of us in Southern California rioted at the Blizzard headquarters and set their gates/buildings on fire.

all of this is fine, the absolute most offputting part of the game is the incessant potion juggling necessary to progress at any speed at all.

chugging potions to run, chugging 3 mana potions per encounter, chugging health potions, making your merc chug potions all while your belt has 12 slots plus your entire inventory having 30 something free slots after the tomes, cube and charms. you cannot spend 5 minutes in the game without exhausting the potion supply and then having to go back and do the inventory dance again, unequipping belt tricks, spamming mouse key+enter over and over and over.

that and slow movement speed of most classes in general are the worst offenders, otherwise the game is great.
