A lot of the rage comes from watching the devs just keep fucking things up during development, just trashing concepts straight out, the game being really unoptimized during the early days and at this point I am sure there is plenty I forget. For all the aggressive posturing about being Terraria 2.0 IN SPACE, it was a huge fucking disappointment when it eventually was released and promptly forgotten by the devs.
