Oldfag here, I've been posting on /v/ since Half-Life 1 came out. We thought that 2 was a shitty movie game when it came out and that Steam was a dumb idea.

I only went on /d/ back then, /v/ seemed too idiotic but my brain has slowly turned to mush and now I go on /v/ every day.
Dunno but I remember seeing HL2 in 2004 and this sounds cloying but I actually couldn't believe it was a real game. You just hadn't seen that level of face animation happening during gameplay before. It was mesmerizing. And I loved its mysterious world.
