Never played Onimusha back in the days, but I tried the demo and loved it - the swordplay in particular. Each swing feels like it has impact, and the game doesn't devolve into combo autism. Everything is so well-animated and corresponds with your enemy's position.

My only real issue with Onimusha thus far is that the demo is insultingly easy. Like, the second demo boss only dealt 10% of my HP with every attack and spent the entire fight crashing into walls, this is fucking wild. Normal enemies may as well not exist whatsoever.I also dislike the fact they turned several weapons into subweapons on a VERY lengthy charge instead. In previous entries you could use the specials at least like 3 times per full bar and it charged way faster. Here it seems you will only get a katana.

the onimusha games were all sorta cinematic for their time so its not surprising that the new one is a significant leap further in that direction, the animation quality is through the roof on everything especially with how they made parries feel unique too depending on the enemy/boss. the only real problem is that it looks pathetically easy, and i dont know how much the hyper cinematic slop gamers would care for magical japanese theatre
