Perfectly understandable. If you don't log in to your account for years, why the fuck should you be allowed to keep your games? You clearly don't want them anymore or anything to do with Sony.
>>
what you think:
>they want me to rebuy games
what they think:
>we're going to coerce people into being signed in with "sleep mode" to increase our MAU number, keep their system up to date to prevent the system from being used for piracy down the line, and use the infrastructure residing in their home to power our services since it's not "in use"
>>
>all the people you will ever meeet on PSN are active users and gamers who are part of the gaming industry just like you
feels good, I would go a little further and lock your account and make it invisible and impossible to go online if you didn't purchase a single new game in the last year
>>
I wish more services would automatically delete my data for inactivity.

steam should do the same

>and use the infrastructure residing in their home to power our services since it's not "in use"
people may think this is tinfoil hat but I know for a fact that the day I bought a good powerboard to hook my 'smart' tv and game consoles to and turned that shit off at the power every night my bills went down a real amount month on month. so something was sucking juice when not in use beyond the supposed claims of a few percent they make that's for damn sure.
>>

With 'accounts', you no longer own games. You rent them
Steam taught us this long before xbox or sony ever used it

I for one pirate everything since 2004

What this guy said, they want you to just log in regularly so they can pad their userbase numbers to appease shareholders.

Also this, if I haven't logged into some stupid live service account for years, I probably don't need it anymore and never intend to use it again. I honestly could not care less if I lose the loicense to their shit and would want them to completely wipe my account from the face of the earth.
The last console that had any games I care about was the PS3, and all of them have been ported to PC, and my Fat PS2 still works perfectly.

This is why I stick with Nintendo.

BROOOO YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND
WE CAN'T HOST YOUR 2KB DATABASE ENTRY THAT TELLS US WHICH GAMES YOU HAVE PURCHASED, IT'S TOO MUCH
>>
>>746492107
It is not about can they host or not, it is about making you engage with the system or lose access to it.
>>
>>746492157
>not engaging with your paid for property for x amount of time somehow means the manufacturer should get to take it away from you
This would never fly in any other industry. Why should vidya be exempt?

inb4
>but muh license and other corporate bootlicking
That's not how it works in the civilized part of the world, regardless of what an unenforcable TOS says.

It literally how shit works in all other industries, from music and movies to chips.
>That's not how it works in the civilized part of the world
Civilized part of the world invented licensing, patents, copyrights and all the red tape around it, you made your bed.

I know you're baiting but I wanted to call you a faggot anyway OP

true
you only take up much needed RAM
>>
>tfw I lose all my PS4/PS3 games because I skipped the PS5 gen and can't be arsed to hook up my PS4 anymore
Whatever, not worth 30 minutes of my time
>>
>>746492338
>This would never fly in any other industry.
literally the most regular mundane industry-wide practice expected pretty much from all services that reserve the right to nuke your account after XX months of inactivity
>That's not how it works in the civilized part of the world
but the civilized part of the world literally came up with all those things... (you voted for it)

every platform reserves the right to terminate your account at any time, whenever they feel like it - you agreed to it
